LA Times reiterates team is re-emphasizing plate discipline

A nice article to read for those of us who may be getting (too) antsy about the lack of plate discipline throughout the organization. Contrary to popular belief, Scoscia notes that about 3 years ago he began to emphasize plate discipline in the minor league teams to help our club distinguish good pitches from bad.
We haven't been in the top half of the league in walks since the Soth's first year although really, who cares with the winning we've had over that same period.
My question would be to mr. rghan as to whether there has been a noticeable increase in younger guys taking walks that we're not aware of?

I recently completed the book
and highly recommend it.
I hope this will shut some of the poeple who think Scioscia ignores walks.
That is a very tired take.
Play Wood already. Willits sucks.
We had 35 walks through 6 spring games
seems like a decent start.

Looks like working the count is trendy this spring
Though as far as increased patience throughout the system last year, I didn’t see it. Bourjos is sure making the effort now though, as is Morales, Brown, Mathis and Evans.
Or it could just be noise in small sample sizes. Who knows at this point.
No regulars, though
That will drop, as article states, once Vlad, Hunter, Aybar and Kendrick start playing regularly. These are guys we need to adopt this philosophy (minus Vlad, he can do whatever he wants).
Well, we're dealing with small sample sizes, but
Kendry has 3 walks in 14 plates appearances so far, and one of the big knocks on him has always been his lack of plate discipline (at least in terms of drawing walks). So that’s a plus.
But really, the fact that walk totals are shining through amongst our minor league players is, in and of itself, an encouraging sign.
And if Howie can bat a full season of .330, I won’t worry too much about a .345 OBP.
Plus we have Abreu now, and he draws walks like no other.

Based on what I heard in today's game
From the top of the fifth, they need to emphasize it quite a bit more.
