Just listened to XM radio replay of Game 6 2002 WS
It was the first time I had heard the game (I was there for the first go around). Memory (at least mine) is illusive. That game still sends chills down my spine. Selig wearing a black and orange tie. Baker giving the game ball to Ortiz. And I had forgotten how suspenseful Scott Spezio's at bat was in the bottom of the 7th. Followed by Erstadt's blast in the eighth and finally Bond's gaff followed by Glaus's blast to left center. That game literally changed my life. Seven years and 10s of thousands of dollars in season tickets later, it still brings a wide smile to my face.
The following youtube link shows ESPN ranking it as the 7th single game comeback in sports history. Note the shocked look on Barry's face.

I am so jacked for the season now. Spring is here...bring it on.

They only gave it 7th?
Arguably the greatest comeback in World Series history, and it only got SEVENTH?
Then again, I suppose I should be glad they even remembered it.

it never gets old, does it?
I was driving home from a football game when Glaus hit the double over Bonds’ head (Jon Miller of all people gave the call), I had to pull off the side of the road because I was swerving all over the place. I had taped the game because I couldn’t take another heartbreak like 1986. But I was able to get news about Speizo’s homer through word of mouth and I knew the Angels were coming back as I drove away from the parking lot, Glaus’ double restored my faith in my team and it was one of the single great moments of my life, pure joy. It’s something that we can care so much about a baseball team. Thanks for posting.
Angels in 09!

not a BIlls fan, but ...
I bought a bootleg copy a couple of years ago of that comeback game against the ’Erlers. Amazing game.
Also, I am one of few people who insist that the Bills’ run of four consecutive SB appearances puts them on a pedestal as one of the greatest teams ever. Who else can claim such a streak? How many have been to even 3 in a row?

Had they even won ONE of those four (shoulda won the first one IMO)
they probably would be considered a great dynasty…….but….
now having one of the worst playoff droughts in history…….they’re no better than the Lions…..
although who knows now with T.O…….they might possibly break that streak this coming year

Bills fan, too
Moot point now, but I remember the chatter that Jim Kelly wasn’t a HOFer because he couldn’t win the big one. He has the only one who showed up 4 years straight.
Not on the list, but...
I was in a bar in Barcelona during the European Championship when Manchester United beat Germany 2-1 with 2 miraculous goals in “injury time” (you know, those mysterious extra seconds at the very end of a match).
That’s about as good as it gets for a soccer comeback…and it was still BORING AS HELL.
