Cool Retro Website
So, I was bored on the internet the other day and i found this thing called the wayback machine. It shows older versions of current websites. I typed in mlb.com and went Oct. 28th 2002, and it was pretty awesome. I also found press conference coverage of the Mo vaughn signing XD, and tons of other cool stuff. The oldest angels website is from 98, but if you type in the dodgers in goes all the way back to 1996!

I love this bit
About Hatcher. " He was “horrified” by 1,001 strikeouts and only 494 walks during the 2001 season and made fixing this his #1 priority going into Spring Training 2002. Wha’ happened?

Well yeah
What I mean is what the f—k happened since then? How’d they go from Hatcher’s Walkers to Hatcher’s Hackers?

With
first round exits to teams that emphasize patience and on base percentage. Hopefully this year it changes.

Yeah, you didn't answer the question
The question is how Hatcher managed to go from emphasizing OBP to emphasizing hacking at everything. Or so the perception goes.

"Or so the perception goes"...
That’s everybody’s problem right there.

Thats a good question
maybe we can get somebody to ask Hatcher for us. I would really like to hear what he has to say.

Just an FYI
The Wayback Machine has been around forever. It’s very useful when you need to find something that’s been “disappeared” from the net.
If you give it a specific URL, it will find all copies of that URL that it knows about.

Crap.
I was kind of hoping that The Wayback Machine was some tool that built phony homepages from scratch, based on the subject and era being sought. For example, imagine what the Angels’ home page on the web might have looked like for opening day, had the web existed back in 1966! Fonts, graphics, photos, ads, and column style. Cool concept.

But more from our hero The Hitting Coach
“From Day One in Spring Training, I’ve been preaching that the three most important statistics are on-base percentage, runs and RBIs. Batting average isn’t important, it doesn’t get anything up on the scoreboard.”
