I feel your pain....
I know that sports are just a game. I know that family is what matters. Sports fans of different teams do feel the loss of a player they have watched and grown to love though. As a Redskin fan Sean Taylor was a great football player who at the young age of 24 was on the cusp of superstar status in the NFL. He had already made the Pro Bowl and was having another Pro Bowl season. On November 26, 2007 at 1:45 am everything changed. Sean Taylor was shot in his home by intruders while he was trying to protect his family. A little more then 24 hours later Sean Taylor had passed away and his friends, family, and Redskin fans from across the globe mourned his loss.
When I heard that Nick Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver I was saddened because the first thing I thought about was Sean Taylor and how another young man lost his life way too early this time at the age of 22. I just want to let all Angels fans on this site know us Redskin fans feel your pain. Its so sad to see a young man like Adenhart lose his life because of ignorance on the part of someone else.
I signed up for this site last night and started posting on Hogs Haven. I noticed something about Adenhart on there. I found out Adenhart is a Washington Redskins fan and has a myspace page with a tribute to Sean Taylor. Its so sad and kinda weird how life can come full circle like it does sometimes. I just want to let Angels fans know us Redskin fans feel your pain and your loss.

Excellent post, I too am a lifelong Skins fan, and Taylor’s passing and circumstance behind it was terrible. While any loss of life is a tragedy, Sean’s was doubly so, it seemed that he had finally turned the corner in terms of maturity, and personal growth. Nick’s death was just as senseless and unnecessary. It’s just that the shock of Nick’s death is still setting in for those of us here at HH. Truly terrible losses. They are both greatly missed.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....

Great post…..welcome to the site………
I remember the tragedy of Sean Taylor………I remember it well because as a Bills fan they were the team that came and played against the Skins after the murder of Taylor…..
He was indeed a great player……(Taylor) and I mourned his loss for skins fans as much as I do for us Adenhart for us Angel fans.

I felt the same way with Darrent Williams.
Williams was a young, talented CB for the Broncos and I was looking forward to watching him for years to come. I actually received his jersey as a Christmas gift just days before his death. I remember watching the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day and seeing the ESPN Bottomline say that Williams had died. I was in shock. Anytime a player that you have watched dies, it really does feel like you’ve lost someone you knew.
It still hurts everytime I look in my closet and see his jersey hanging.
My thoughts and prayers are with Nick, his family and friends, and you guys.
Go Nova
We all have felt the same and can feel the same for others.
Though I have lived in the Albuquerque area over half my life now, I am still very loyal to my home Minnesota teams. Sadly, all of us have experienced loss with a player we respected, looked up too and otherwised loved or never had the chance to truely witness the greatness they showed flashes of. The Vikings lost Korey Stringer, someone I think alot like Adenhart. Showed what could have been, but sadly gone before they were able too and leaving alot of broken hearts behind. And another, one I adored as a kid, who’s career was cut short, wasnt a perfect human, but tried to atone for that, who’s pictures, cards and other memobilia I have hanging around and sadly passed away on my birthday. One that I can still remember watching with his fist in the air and still hearing “And we’ll see you tomorrow night” in my ear’s while jumping up and down cause my hero had done it and saved the 1991 World Series. Many shared the pain I felt with these two that are gone now, just as I feel what Angels are feeling right now. Yes, life does go on, but always will remember with a smile and remember with happiness.

…I’d normally like to meet you in a back alley. But your post is right on the money and I appreciate your very well timed remembrance of Sean Taylor and pointing out just how short and fragile life can be. What always concerns me is when sports fans overtake the situation and make it theirs as opposed to letting those friends and family of someone who has passed do their own grieving. I’m glad to see Angels fans coming together to mourn, while also respecting those who knew Nick Adenhart and loved him.
Redskins fans and their franchise did an awesome job of finding the balance and I hope we can follow the example of grieving as fans who feel like we knew them and also supporting the family who is bearing the brunt of the loss.
Great Sentiment
Much love to all Skins and Angels fans worldwide from Southern California. Nick and Sean T will be cheering on our teams forever!
Restore the California Angels namesake!
I am a Hurricane fan
Thank you for the nice post, and kind thoughts.
Sean Taylor was going to be an amazing safety. He was just starting his ascension to being a superstar.
Play Wood already. Willits sucks.
