Fan StrOng
The players wearing 34 over their chests, keeping a locker for Nick, and taking his jersey to the dugout each game - these are all good, honorable measures we can all get behind. And if the Adenhart family gives the club its blessing to start making #34 patches available to the public, I'll zip over to the stadium and buy a couple. But on the official homepage right now they've replaced the letter 'O' in Fan Strong with Adenhart's patch. At first I thought nothing of it, but on second look, is it appropriate to make Nick's number part of the promotional slogan? Might that lack in taste just a bit? Or am I overreacting, and this is just a sincere sign of respect to our departed hurler? Seriously, thoughts?

It is respect
It actually sacrifices brand image to show that commercialism takes a back seat to honoring a life cut short by tragedy.
It is a matter of intent.
I noticed it too and thought it kind of strange but after thinking about it, it’s not my place to say. Obviously the Angels are not looking to capitalize financially on this tragedy or they would sell his jersey and his patch to make a profit.
I think if your intentions are good – i.e. you want to honor your teammate – then so be it, I have no problem with you. Of course you must be respectful of the family. The Angels have been a model organization in this by saying it’s about the families of those lost and injured not about the Angels, even though they are grieving as well. I have a lot of respect for how they have handled themselves.
Its tough there are no Emily Post etiquette guides for dealing with this stuff, just got to do what you think is right.
Respect
And no commercialism whatsoever. Arte knows about branding, and he knows you don’t mess with it like this and expect any positive results. But you do make this change to honor a fallen teammate, and I like it.
Randall T. Longwith, DUI Attorney for Andrew Gallo: you are the very scum of the earth and a disgrace to your alma mater as well as your species.
When I saw that I thought it was awesome
Great way to honor him
R.I.P Nick Adenhart 1986-2009 You will be greatly missed
