Pitching impresses, but Offense Asleep -- Angels Swept
I picked the right day to get up early and help my girlfriend at an art festival. Just got back and cannot even bring myself to read about it.
In other news, if you think attendance at baseball games is down, you should try outdoor art exhibits in 97 degrees on the same weekend as Coachella during a recession... (RevHF)

I was thinking Howard
But yeah, it could just as easily go to Kendrick or Howie.
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
Kudos to Shane Loux...
…he did everything we could have asked and more!
Sloppy Defense and piss poor fundamentals will cost you nearly everytime!
Miss you Nick...! RIP
<3 Loux
Let’s hope we make it up to him in his next 20 starts.
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
would you feel bad for gary matthews or justin speier if theu had the exact same type of games?

Howie doesn’t make millions of dollars, complain about playing time, or argue with people just to look tough. For someone who’s come up through the Angels organization and always been a nice guy, I think people are turning on him too quickly.
i dont see anyone "turning on him"
but arent we allowed to call a spade a spade? If he’s playing poorly, he’s allowed to be criticized like everyone else. Nobody is saying hes not important to the future, just that he presently looks crappy. there are no sacred cows on this team.
RIP Nick Adenhart

Yeah Guys!
You know you reads this site nightly and takes everything you say to heart.
Stop being so mean!
I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....
not to nitpick or anything......
but on the spreadsheet……in the total number of people played it says 77………………..but if you add up the numbers on who scored 1 and 0 points…….it equals 78…….

Weird.
the excel file on my computer has the number of 0 point scorers as only 52. whereas its 53 online.
Something must’ve gotten warped in the transfer. (Maybe counting an empty square as 0)
shrug
RIP Nick Adenhart :(
not that it really matters either way........
just letting you know…….keep up the awesome work!

quick correction
Hey just like norcaliangel fan, I’m not meaning to nitpick, but I picked MIN to score 3 runs, and didn’t get the point…. Thanks, I appreciate it
RIP Nick Adenhart
2009 Is for You
You didn't comment.....
You must comment in the pregame thread. Submit your picks, AND put your picks in a comment.

That was my fault, I was submitting my picks from my phone, and could not comment….

no, just keeping the lines of communication open for him
he understands road blocks. I have a BB and can’t post on HH either.
RIP Nick
Ah. I see what the problem is
When you use HH on the phone, you get redirected to a mobile version.
Thing is, when you’re in mobile-HH you can’t post a comment.
I know on the mobile version, there’s a link to go to the full version, which might be able to let you post? I’m not sure, I haven’t tried going that route on a mobile yet.
Unfortunately I can’t think another way around it yet… see if the above methods help… There must be a way you can find a computer otherwise I hope?
Shoot me an email: (my screenname) at gmail if it proves to be impossible or something.. we’ll work something out hopefully
RIP Nick Adenhart :(
Yeah, just irony
He can’t post a comment because was on the BB when posting picks. Yet in order to qualify, has to comment that he can’t comment. Funny! :-D
RIP Nick Adenhart.

maybe it can be squeezed in next to your name, ie ladybug mobile
and scott would know it was a mobile post?
RIP Nick
I've done the same thing
I’ve tried submitting my picks from my mobile phone as well because a lot of days I’m gone from the computer all day until after the game starts. You can use the google docs form just fine from the mobile version of the website but SB Nation still doesn’t have a way for comments to be made from a mobile phone. Also the full version of the website does not work well (at least for me) over a non-iPhone. Since then, I’ve just tried to do my best to get to the picks before I get as long as they’re posted early enough.
scottnak: Not sure if I didn't click submit on the form, but I didn't see my name on the spreadsheet
I picked 6-11 and 4-10, which would have got me 1 point. Here’s the LINK to my picks in the comments.
Not sure if this is why the numbers don’t add up. And if I was a bonehead and didn’t submit the form, no worries — I’ll take the zero.

I blame Soth for the loss.
Anyone that Q should A be playing RF while B hitting 3rd in the lineup should be taken to a mental institute.
Also I’m glad to see Fuentes get so much work in high leverage situations in this series. I mean the Angels are paying him how much and hit sat in the bullpen against the Twins top two lefties with the game on the line with 2 outs in the 8th. Soth might have ruined the whole season with that decision.
its not exactly Soth's style to bring in a closer when behind in the 8th inning....
hasnt done it before IIRC and probably wont ever do it……
He’s just trying to bide time until he can get a healthy club again……and one that doesnt have a heavy heart.

according to Fangraphs
Figgins is the worst, followed by rivera then howie. But i dont think it takes defense into account, which really pushes Howie to the top
That'll only happen if that one prospect is the second coming of Christ and redemption for mankind can only be achieved by smacking many balls out of the yard.

there is tons of stuff fangraphs doesnt take into account......
which is why I rarely use it.

i find it extremely usefull as long as you know what your looking at
from a purely offensive run expectancy matrix (with how the result happened not taken into account) figgins was the worst, and howie third worst. Obviously there is alot of noise, such as looking awful and defense, which can vary greatly from game to game, making single game stuff inconclusive some times, but with a larger sample size it becomes much more accurate and useful

Aybar was on base 2 times today....
while Figgy went 0-4 and GIDP……..
so…..I could see how that makes him worse than Aybar

howie?
3 K’s and frankly they were all jokes of an at bats. didnt cover first on a bunt and gomes got a free pass. bobbled a double play that resulting in a run. then had an error that was ruled a hit for some reason. howie is not good at baseball currently.

This pic should only be used for losses to the M's.
It’s the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
Angels fan since '67
I figured the collapse of the bridge is symbolic of the collapse
of our bridge from starter to closer aka middle relief

That bridge is an engineering ethics case study
The Angels are a roster construction case study

it's safe to say
that this has been the worst month ever. seriously, if we get out of this month at .500 it will be a miracle
Chili Davis - the closest thing the MLB got to a real life Pedro Cerrano.
Can't beat September '95 in any April
I don’t care how high your expectations are.
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
Loux was good....
Abreu was good…..
thats about it.

questionable call tho
but gomez should have been off the base paths anyways because he was picked off and called him safe 5 minutes earlier.

But I also think the umpire guessed. And that it hardly matters anymore.

Wow acuda
Predicting the no-hitter for Loux. Wish that would have worked out. Think of the stories one could tell.

I was expecting the pitching to be suspect...
but the hitting? Vlad suddenly looks very, very old. Abreu has been awesome, Hunter has been very good and is now the heart & soul of this team. The rest of the line-up is frankly bad. KMo is “oh no”, Kendrick is swinging the bat like Howie Mandel, and the productivity of left side of the infield is an embarrassment.
1. B Abreu .362
2. T Hunter .308
3. J Rivera .289
4. C Figgins .256
5. V Guerrero .250
6. J Mathis .235
7. M Napol .231
8. K Morales .227
9. E Aybar .226
10. H Kendrick .213
11. G Matthews .176
12. M Izturis .143
13. R Quinlan .000
The website points out
That Aybar actually hit .350 on the road trip. Hopefully a sign he’s heating up….
RIP Nick Adenhart.
