I’m pitching horrible," Shields said. "It’s a tough situation, and it’s pretty much all me. So I take the blame for the bullpen. I mean, if wasn’t for me, I think we’d be all right."
(Way to man up Scot. Hope you can pick it up real soon, we could use your rubber arm.)

This shows me
Scot is a leader in that Pen. No making excuses, or pointing fingers .. he’s just telling it like it is, and trying to take some pressure off of the other guys. I hope he gets a chance to throw again tonight, and would love to see all of the fans at the game show support.
ouch
I’ll man up up and say that Scot-y is my favorite player. I absolutely love what he has brought to our team the last… dude… 7-8 years? sure, there seems to be a lot of nail biters, but at the end of the season, he has a terrific ERA, record, and peripherals, not to mention the fact that he can pitch 3-4 days in a row.
here’s to him getting the bugs out early—he seems like a standup dude, and we’re going to need him this summer. I hope he’s hanging out with Speier to see what he learned from last year and struggling, and how to be mentally tough for it all. I want to see him on the mound again tonight, with some wicked movement, a few calls on the outer corner going his way (for once), and a few K’s to build that confidence back up!

and the Angels are breakfast...
they perfectly complement each other. Toast is “part of this complete breakfast” as they say.
I am thinking that Shields might have some lingering pain over blowing the win for Adenhart. I just wonder if he is thinking about that. Baseball just works that way, sometimes; even Nick said that when he learned he got a no decision that night. Hope Scot can realize that and get past it if this is indeed what is weighing on his mind.
In a year of such turmoil, whining still abounds.
