Current Roster Flowchart
I was over at the Mariners' SBN blog Lookout Landing when I stumbled across this interesting flowchart that tracked all of the transactions that had brought their current 25-man roster together. As an exercise I decided to do the same, although I chose to expand it to our 40-man roster.
Players that the Halos drafted are in blue bubbles, while those that we signed as amateur or undrafted players are in purple. Free agents are red and players acquired in trades are in green, with an arrow connecting to the box of the player that was traded to get them.
Probably the most interesting thing to me in comparing this chart with the aforementioned Mariners one is how few of our players were acquired in trades. Also it should be noted that Robb Quinlan is such a badass that he was drafted twice.
Hopefully this amuses at least 10% of the people who view it.
[UPDATE] Fixed HK's draft position and narrowed down the sign date for Loux. Also updated the statuses of Ortega and Thompson to reflect the current roster.

Oh yeah
forgot to mention that if there’s anything wrong, let me know. About the only thing I couldn’t find was the exact date we signed Shane Loux.
I found this on www.thomasgeorge.com (Fantasy Baseball Player Profile Shane Loux)
8/06/08 The Los Angeles Angels purchased the AAA contract of RHP Shane Loux on Monday. He had been pitching well at Salt Lake, going 12-6 with a 3.98 ERA. He was leading the Pacific Coast League in wins before his call-up. He pitched two innings of shutout ball against the Orioles last night.
That's when he was called up to the bigs...
not when the Angels signed him. Seems the date is a mystery to BB-ref.com as well:

They still have his “last game” listed on the site as 9/24/2003. However, the site does have his latest statistics.

baseballamerica.com has this list of minor league transactions that took place between
Nov. 10 – 16, 2007 and Loux is listed on it. So that narrows it down to a week’s time. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/?p=668
Wow, I googled “Shane Loux” and my old Halos Heaven fanshot is the second item from the top! Cool.
Angels fans make prettier flowcharts!
True story!
Rec’d.
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
That's really cool
Good job.
"I see great things in baseball. It's our game, the American game. It will repair our losses and be a blessing to us."
That Bartee / Figging trade looks like a great deal.
Was there more to it than that? Or did we just pull one over the Rockies??

Kimera Bartee! Come on down!
Put him in the top 100 angels list!
He sure had a strange career and is now a roving instructor for the Pirates:

I had a boss once who was obsessed with flowcharts.
It was so bad that it became a big office joke and we would create flowcharts for everything, like to going to the restroom or ordering lunch.
He wasn’t an Angels fan, but I’m sure he would love this.
Nice job.
RIP Nick Adenhart, #34
Flowcharts are one of those stupid corporate blueprints...
they drive me nuts, but this presented here is pretty cool.
“By the way, did you get that memo? You see, we’re putting cover sheets on our TPS reports… If you could go ahead and do that from now on, that’d be great! I’ll go ahead and get you a copy of the memo.”

Are the Shields/Kendrick draft positions correct?
If so, then, wow! We need to trade for the 1137th pick in the next few years drafts ASAP.
(Ok, I just looked it up and Shields is correct, but Howie was drafted somewhere in the 10th round. Can’t find the exact pick number)
You're right, I forgot to change Shields' numbers when I copied his bubble to use for Kendrick.
The real numbers are 10th/294th. I’ll change it a bit later.
What we really need is to get some 1337th picks.
That’d be ’leet.
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
put me in that 10%
I’m amused… Good job.
