LunchTime Pregame Thread
One of the raps New York gets is the crazy fans in the seats, but there are crazy fans everywhere. Often they are there rooting against the team of your choice, yet it is humbling when a true Bozo is rooting along with your interests.
While you just know that our guys will be hearing it tonight in the Bronx, do you have any tales of a particularly memorable catcaller from the stands?
Meanwhile, tonight in the Bronx it is ANTHONY ORTEGA facing off against A.J. BURNETT in the New Yankee Stadium. Weather is partly cloudy. Game time temperature around 60.

honestly
ny fans arent that bad. the funniest people were def in baltimore. i love going to games down there! but yanks fans really arent as bad as everyone makes them out to be. not at all. and now, the fans are just rich!
stoked to see the new stadium
and i really hope AO strikes Tex out… a couple times.
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34
I can't wait for New York to come to Anaheim
I usually stay home for those games, but I think I’d like to be there to share my thoughts with Tex. :-)
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
I don't wear my shades upside-down on my hat.
Plus, I’d be reaching over the railing and/or yelling obnoxiously at the guy trying to catch one of my Angels’ pop-flies.
In a year of such turmoil, whining still abounds.

Went to Fenway
with the wife back in 2000. Red Sox were playing the Blue Jays. Sitting in the centerfield bleachers, I was amused by the constant chants of “F**k the Yankees” throughout the game.
Not sure if they still do that against teams other then the Yankees.
RIP Nick. The Angels and their fans will always remember you.
Also, I've been to Yankee Stadium
a couple of time in Angels gear when the Angels were playing the Yankees, and never heard about it from any other fans
RIP Nick. The Angels and their fans will always remember you.
I was in the bleachers there a couple of seasons back with the Angel hat
Somewhere around the 4th inning I had about 2,000 people chanting asshole at me. Then the fans got distracted when a guy with a red sox hat on sat down a couple of rows up.
Lots of good natured guff, but nothing serious. After the game the guy who had led the chants came up to me, introduced himself, and thanked me for being such a fan. So… Classy… I guess? Anyway, I had a great time. Probably helped that Colon got whooped…
I saw the Angels play in Fenway
I wore my Angels jersey and had zero problems.
In fact the fans loved me… because:
1) We’ve posed no threat to the BoSux in the playoffs
2) We beat the Yankees
Also, my Aunt is a huge Boston fan (unfortunately) and she tells me stories of fans chanting “Yankees Suck” at Patriot games! Not even a baseball game!
I have nothing important to say.
Were they all Harvard Pusses?
Or maybe they were either all so drunk that they could not read or true to the Boston Public School system’s reputation, the fans were illiterate.

Where I was sitting...
I don’t think half of them were even watching the game.
I have nothing important to say.
Dude - I teach there!
Math though – so at least they’re getting the cash right when they’re buying the booz.
Harvard Wrestling team dominated in the late 30s...
…Oh wait, that was John F. Kennedy inventing “Rough Sex” with drunk Boston College girls in his sophomore year.
This doesn't really fit the description of catcallers
but there were two Angel fans fighting by me and my girlfriend in the bottom of the 9th, Saturday night. Damn idiots made me miss Torii’s HR!
I have nothing important to say.
Chowderheads
I think my first or second year of our season seats (‘98-’00 era) some chowderheads sat next to us. There were four of them, and we’re all in the front row. The Sox sucked back then, so they were pretty humble.
Toronto was in town, and they loved giving it to Shannon Steward, the CF. At one point, one of them says randomly…“STTTEEWWWART…YA FUCK”. They proceeded to want to know about every strip club within a 10-mile radius, and finally settled on Sahara’s. But their drunken dialect saying SaHARa’s is something I’ll never forget.
I want to hear the story of you-know-who calling everyone communists...
I have nothing important to say.
SETHY.......?

Response....
I was hoping to get in touch with the young woman who witnessed the unfortunate incident involving Brian Powers on April 6th.
I work with Inside Edition in New York City.
I read a mention of this on that website.
Does this mean you'll be going on a double-date this weekend?

The guy in the photo above looks like he's trying to catch the ball with his mouth.
One of the funnier taunts I’ve heard… “Hey ref (or ump)… you’d need another eye to be a cyclops.”
Teenage giggles whenever i think of that one…yes, easily entertained.
btw
im really enjoying these “LunchTime Pregame Thread’s”.
I say keep ’em going!
any BBQ tips for an epic Tailgate?
- Ill start… during the previous homestand my friends and i BBQed up some shishkabob’s, they are an easy way to enjoy a good tailgate (5-10 min each side)

For Brewers' broadcasts
FSN Wisconsin does these “Tailgate Tips” segments, usually once/game, that have a chef demonstrating a quick recipe for great tailgating food. I usually fast forward through commercials on my DVR, but I always stop to watch Tailgate Tips. I’ve actually gotten some pretty good ideas from them.
hmmm
ill have to look them up on youtube. thanks for the tip!

I was singing along to the commercial on TV last night
And my wife looks at me and just says, “That’s so wrong…”
I love tailgates!
For the first one this year we did filet mignons, baked potatoes, cesar salad, and champagne. Pre-seasoned the steaks the night before, baked the potatoes at home and kept them warm – it was actually one of our easier bbq’s. We made a lot of new friends in the parking lot that evening.
Last weekend we did Johnsonville Brats, split them and melted some blue cheese just before they were done… really good.
Plowboys Market in Fountain Valley has the best carne asada (the ‘red’, not the other one). It cooks fast and you just throw it on tortillas with salsa, cheese, guac, etc…
man i've been craving a good brat for awhile
and that’s not helping anything!
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34

Don't waste your time with Johnsonville then
I mean, they’re okay, and readily available at major grocery stores, but if you’re really craving one then splurge for the handmade ones at Bristol Farms. Those are the closest to real Wisconsin-style gourmet brats I’ve found out here. Good amount of black pepper, nice snap to the casing — great for beer-braising then throwing on the grill with some onions. And if you have non-brat eaters with you, B.F. has a whole range of gourmet sausages. The chicken/apple and French Garlic are good too.
Dammit. Now I’m craving brats.
someone ban the food talk before i go insane with the hunger
Driven into right-center field, Erstad says he has it...the Angels, world champions!

Figgins 3B
Izturis DH
Abreu RF
Hunter CF
Morales 1B
Napoli C
Kendrick 2B
Rivera LF
Aybar SS
look, if we’re gonna play Maicer, then do it at SS. bench Aybar.
it just irks me to see a slap hitter starting at DH

I know that this is the lineup that scored 7 and 8 runs in consecutive days
and also helped orchestrate our longest winning streak of the season, but man seeing Aybar, Figgins, and Izturis all bat “in a row” as those three will invariably find themselves leading off an inning. it just hurts my head….

Goin' to Saturday's game
Should be fun. Interesting CC is pitching and he has gotten off to his usual slow April start….oh wait ….it will be May then.
This wasnt at a baseball game
but is was so annoying! I was at the game where UCLA beat USC 13-9(woot woot bruins!) and there was an older black man behind us that was a USC fan. Now, I didnt care he was a USC fan because we were near the border of the team sections. But every few minutes(or less) we would hear a, “Fight on, Trojans,” from behind us.But the thing was, thats all he said! no variation whatsoever! I counted at least 70 something times in the second half he did it! it was crazy!
Nick Adenhart- Forever a true Angel in Heaven. RIP 1986-2009
