Teixeira Booed "Loudly and Longly"

Mark Teixeira is being booed wildly by the disappointed, delusional, and angry Baltimore Orioles fans at the season opener in Baltimore, Maryland today. Tex has batted twice so far today without a hit while being booed through out both at bats so far in the game. Orioles fans had hoped hometown boy, Mark Teixeira, would have come home to Baltimore and sign with the Orioles in the off season as a free agent. Teixeira looks visibly nervous, like he is afraid something large and heavy is about to be thrown at his head.

The ESPN announcer described Teixeira as being booed "loudly and longly" as the coverage of the game started in the bottom of the 1st delayed by the Mets game coverage where Frankie Rodriguez recorded his first save for the Mets.

Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

Thats great. I am all for booing, under the right circumstances.

The bottom line is U-haul dragged all of us along then stood us up at the alter.

“But he was a free agent and that was his right”

True, and it’s my right to boo him.

Wait until Teix hears boos at Yankee Stadium

By spoiled Yankee fans…it’s inevitable.

CC Sabathia should be glad the Yankees opened in Baltimore today…CC would have had his first shower of boos from the hometown NY fans. Still very glad we didn’t overspend on CC…

Frankie sure looked good. I’m glad he’s in the NL.

CC only went four an a third innings and down five runs. Yikes.

Cliff Lee also got destroyed today

On a completely unrelated note, Hanley Ramirez hit a grand slam. I bet the Marlins are happy they moved him to the 3-hole

I'll bet Frankie's glad to be there too.

I mean it IS AAAA. I wouldn’t be surprised if his numbers this year are crazy.

Yeah. You have the vast majority of players who have not seen him live before, and

they don’t yet know to lay off his pitches until he proves he is throwing strikes.

The front end of 2009 could make him incredibly nasty again, and land him on the NL All-Star team.

And it was a fairly easy save, Mets fans were spared their first heart failure.

Anything can happen in a short series.

Wake me up when they win interleague for a year. Then I’ll be impressed.

Depth is quality.

The whole point with the AAAA thing isn’t that there’s no way they can win, or that there aren’t good teams over in the NL. It’s that overall, stats get inflated in the NL because there’s more mediocre/bad teams every season over there.

or something stupid like that.

LOL that Jones kid is looking real good in the season opener, I still think Wladimir is going to be better

but Adam Jones is looking solid! Good thing he aint in our division any more.

Good

I hope the Halo faithful let him have it for dragging us through his free agent soap opera.

by Ajax on Apr 6, 2009 6:29 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

give Tex credit for one thing....

the guy was total cool after the game when the media talked to him about being booed…..said nothing but good things about the fans of B-more….

good for him way to take it all in stride.

The O's fans have nothing to boo about except their sorry @$$ owner

Did they really expect Teixeira to give the O’s a $40 million discount because he used to live there?! Please.

The Angels at least put a competitive offer in front of him, which he rejected after saying what a class organization it was, so I say we can boo away. But O’s fans should just throw Peter Angelos in the ocean and beg someone else to buy the team.
