Angels Sweep is a Royal Leap
Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Royals 3, Angels 4
Did you see that catch? Did you SEE that catch? Did you see that CATCH?
The signs outside Angel Stadium claim that "The Catch" will re-open later in the Summer, but Torii Hunter saved a game for Brian Fuentes and the Angels with a catch of a Miguel Olivo flyball over the Centerfield wall... well not A catch... THE catch. Scot Shields got the win in relief and the Angels swept the first place Royals, allowing only four runs in the three game series. Fuentes got his 9th save of the season courtesy of Hunter's glove and some slick infield defense that ended the game with a 4-6-3 Double Play.
A 3-Run 7th inning saw Jeff Mathis hit a clutch single to score two runs and come around to score on a drag bunt by Chone Figgins. The Angels took the lead and never looked back, although they saw quite a heavy load flying their way in the rear view mirror as they prepared to pullout onto Victory Boulevard. What Torii Hunter could not do with his bat (he went 0 for 3) though, he did with his glove!
Last night's complete game shutout by Joe Saunders paid dividends on Sunday afternoon as a rested bullpen took over early during a mediocre effort by starter Shane Loux. Darren Oliver and Scot Shields combined for 4 and 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and the Rally Monkey woke up in time to inspire the Halo crew and the crowd of 43,000+.
Light up the Halo, Break out the Broom, DID YOU SEE THAT CATCH?!?!?!

I gotta give Figgs a shoutout here.
2 brilliant defensive plays AND the GW RBI on a suicide squeeze.

Never give up, never surrender!
hula dula the mothers day rula!
Driven into right-center field, Erstad says he has it...the Angels, world champions!
Figgy gets some love from me for great defense and a great sac-bunt to get the winning run home.
~Till the Halo burns out...
the variety of panther choices speaks volumes of what this game was
#34 Nick Adenhart always an Angel
I'm throwing some love to Mathis.....
some clutch RBI’s the last few games he’s been in……..

You couldn't ask for a better face of the franchise
Arte needs to market the shit out of Torii. What a gamer.

mother of all catches
last spring after watching the Flyin’ Hawaiian lift the Phillies, I picked them to win it all. Right now after that Hunter stab, my gut says Angels all the way. Period. Paragraph.
Go Mizzou.

I don't care if he went 0-3 (with a walk)
He doesn’t get that incredibly sick catch, they wind up losing the game.

A quick shout for Shields...
…finally looking like the pitcher he has been for the last few years. If the bullpen is back in shape, then we’re in good shape and for that you need a solid Shields.
I see red people
Torii is the Man
and POTG
We need a pitcher...not a DL itcher!
FTW

Rest in Peace Adenhart

don't forget the fc that torii had as well
worth every penny
GA GA he's the man, if he can't do it, no one can
Question
what do you do if your pre game guesses are not in the results. i also posted my guesses on the thread.

GA GA he's the man, if he can't do it, no one can
You complain to ScottNak...
…he then gives you cryptic, but insoluble puzzles about things he wrote yesterday and you then end up with no points.
Or that’s what happened to me anyway…
I see red people
panther
where are the listings for panther totals this year? they aren’t on the left sidebar anymore?
I loved in the end when they were all walking in congratulating each other...
….and you could hear Torii continuously saying “That’s what I do! That’s what I do!”….
I thought it was cool anyway.
I've got nothing.
Torrii might be an angel
for onyl his second year, but top 10 Angel of all time after that catch.
"If I was still pitching, I would stick one right in his ear..." Goose Gossage
Torii gets my vote but Figgins is a close second.
My votes were based on defense.
Was at the game – and it was awesome.
Torii acknowledged the crowd and got mobbed by the outfield right after the final out.
???
Doen’t work again. Sothball…….

Yawn
Torii making a running leaping catch over the wall to stop a HR and secure the game.
I mean, it’s not like he doesn’t do it over and over again.
Figgins for Panther
Angel Pitching (Adenhart), Angel Defense - get past that.
Folks, I was at the game.
Darren Oliver needs a WHOLE LOT OF LOVE for 2.1 innings of Bitchin’, Wonderful Pitchin’. Shields did his job (for a change). Darren Oliver put the game on ice while our guys could re-group.

Putting that man backin the bullpen
May be one of the best things to happen to us this season.

Of course the headline over at ESPFN
is that the Red Sox beat the Rays… and that some dude named Manny was on steroids.
God needed a starter. RIP #34
