ESPN: Complete and Utter Idiots
This from the summary on Saunders, on my HalosHeaven Fantasy League daily report:
"Saunders has been fortunate to avoid outings like this more often than that. He pitches on a pretty good team with an above average bullpen, however, so he'll make up for the lack of strikeouts with a few extra wins.
Wow. Thanks for paying so much attention to detail, guys.

Why even listen to anything they say. Even if we won the WS they would never give us any credit.
East coast bias all they way.

Worthless
ESPN must think every team in the AL West is only there to subsidize Boston and NYY player shortages. They make ignorant errors, give non-factual analysis, miss names or mispronounce them, and deride good young players they don’t know much about with comments like “four more years until he is a Yankee”. Thankfully, MLB Network is getting some notice and I think will overtake ESPN shortly on baseball audience.

I don't see the problem..
This is essentially true…
Saunders is a pitch to contact pitcher, that relies on defense because he K’s so few. The Angels are (or at least have been) a pretty good team with an above average bullpen, and an above average IF defense.
From a fantasy standpoint, this makes him exactly as advertised….someone who won’t help you with K’s, but will win more than his share.
So, what is wrong with the statement, and what is wrong with a pitcher like that?
He is a fine pitcher, one that looks better than he is on a good team, and poorer than he is on a bad team. He can be Tommy John on the great Dodgers teams, or Geoff Zahn on the crappy Cubs teams….A valuable asset, but not a star…most teams that win it all have at least 1 Joe Saunders on their roster..usually 2 or 3.

What is wrong with the statement
Is that ESPN states as matter of fact that the Angels have “an above average bullpen.”
Yeah. Try the worst bullpen ERA IN THE MAJORS. Ummm….right. Good job, ESPN. You’re really paying attention. :-D
