The AP reports that Troy Percival was given permission by the Rays to go home to California and consider his future after going on the DL once again, this time for a bothersome shoulder. Though he's 6 for 6 in saves for the Rays this season, his ERA is also 6.35 and had 5 BB to go with his 7 K. He may very well be considering retirement for the second time.
If this is the end of the road for Percy, I hope that, after a suitable interval, the Angels bring him back into the fold as a roving bullpen coach. He was valuable to the team before he began his comeback with the Rays, and should be once again. It doesn't matter that he wore the uniform of the Tigers or Rays, he'll forever be an Angel.
