Torii Hunter, Angels Smash Dodgers
Final Score in Los Angeles: Angels 10, Dodgers 7
Even though it was just up the Freeway, it was the final game of a 10-game road trip that saw the Angels go 5 - 5, and the final 3 of those games were without the Designated Hitter.
The Dodgers started their Ace, Chad Billingsley but he just could not handle the superior singles-squibbing attack of the death-by-a-thousand-cuts Angels offense. With a 4-2 lead in the 6th inning, Bilingsley gave up three runs, with consecutive singles and a sac fly giving the Angels a lead that they would not surrender.
Torii Hunter saved both Angel wins in the 3-game Freeway Series with his glove midway thru Friday's and again Sunday's game, but on Sunday his bat also did the talking, driving in three runs. He also had a three-run homer in the Angel 1-run extra inning loss at Chavez Ravine on Saturday night.
With Hunter doing the heavy lifting for the first quarter of the season, the Angels will get Vladimir Guerrero back as Designated Hitter tomorrow night at home in Los Angeles of Anaheim.

I went ahead and voted Bulger.......
kept things in check so the boys in Red could overcome and defeat the smurfs.

scottnak, are you going to update the leaderboard before you leave?
I could look like I’m in the lead the whole time. Ha, ha
I am the Iron Man
I would actually argue that Torre shot himself in the foot in this one
In the ninth, Brent Leach gave up a triple to Abreu. Torre then brings in Ramon Troncoso and then makes him walk the first man he faces, GMJ. Seriously, how many times do you see a pitcher lose his command after an intentional walk? Have Leach throw the IBB and let Troncoso face Rivera with men on the corners.
Witty .sig goes here.
great point

Torre called two IBBs
Both were bad decisions. The first was to Abreu loading the bases for Torii, who has been by far our best hitter. The second was to Matthews. Although this one set up a potential doubleplay with the slow-footed Rivera at bat, it also gave a free pass to Matthews (who easily could have failed to advance the runner) and instead put the bat in our second best hitter of late. Torii and Rivera both got hits and knocked in huge runs for us.
the Soth continue his mastery of Joe Torre

Just saying.

POTG TORII
and anybody that disagrees may have head problems (not really, but you get the point). He seems to be making great catches on a regular. If his goal is to reach the All-Star game this year then his momma will be proud. I love the guy. D.O. had a tough outing, but got out of it so damage controlled. Palmer vs. Cy Young candidate Chad B. and we got the win. Cheers.
P.S.—> Howie? Do we really think he has a hammy tweak? Or was it flat out a benching. If so, thank you Scioscia. Long run benefits are great.

Try again...friggin Time Warner intermitten internet access...
…my niece got married at 5:00 PM this afternoon. My wife and I were waiting for the weeding to start while furiously hitting the refresh button on the Crackberry. We were so glad they won the game just prior to the start of the wedding!
Great game…great victory against the team with the best record in baseball and the best home record in baseball…that also happens to be out cross-town rival!!
YeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
Oh yeah…the wedding and reception were great too!
Torii
The guy has been phenomenal for us this year. Might be getting a little beat up though. Wouldn’t mine seeing Mike give him a couple of days off since Vlad is back.
