OT -RIP Emperor Nero
LOS ANGELES – Dom DeLuise, the portly actor-comedian whose affable nature made him a popular character actor for decades with movie and TV audiences as well as directors and fellow actors, has died. He was 75.
DeLuise died last night, son Michael DeLuise told KTLA-TV and radio station KNX today. The comedian died in his sleep after a long illness. Calls to his agent were not immediately returned.
The actor, who loved to cook and eat almost as much as he enjoyed acting, also carved out a formidable second career later in life as a chef of fine cuisine. He authored two cookbooks and would appear often on morning TV shows to whip up his favourite recipes.

Don't forget him as Urgo in Stargate SG-1.
And as Don Giovanni in “Robin Hood, Men in Tights”

In one of my many past lives, I cooked professionally. And yet...
…a long time ago with the purchase of our first in-home microwave, we purchased a book by Dom on microwave cooking basics. Something like 25 years later I still use his method to cook rice over any other. No other method is faster, or more reliable. And no other method is as simple and direct. Considering how much rice I have cooked, served, and eaten over the decades, Dom had a huge impact on my life. Bully for him. RIP.

I always confused
Dom DeLuise with that Chef Prudhomme dude…
Have you ever tried Chef Paul’s Magic Seasoning with Dom’s rice? It’d probably be good.

I thought that Prudhomme dude
…was the guy who had that funny car battle with a guy named Garlits back in the 60’s…

His license plate that read ...
13 WEEKS [a reference to the fact that he was in so many TV shows that were chopped at what used to be the minimum no. of episodes.] Funny guy who didn’t take himself too seriously.
