Nifty Mike Trout Article
Who? Oh yeah, our 25th pick yesterday. He was the only invited prospect to attend the draft broadcast. I was once invited to a girl's birthday party in 1st or 2nd grade and I was the only one who showed up, so I guess Bud Selig knows how she felt :(
Anyhoo, Trout seems like a cool, humble kid. He definitely heaps a lot of praise on our beloved Angels, especially for a guy who probably grew up a Yankees fan (or is South Jersey Phillies territory?). I will definitely be pulling for this guy. Make him a millionaire, Halos!

Mike Trout, eh?
I’ll be looking forward to see him play.
The fact that he attended the MLB draft might suggest that he has a positive, dedicated attitude, and that’s a good thing.

Yeah
Although I realized after I posted this that MLB’s studio is in New Jersey. Gotta figure most of the invited prospects live in the West and South. Cool of Trout nonetheless.

Wrong end of the state
MLB Network is in the old MSNBC studio in Secaucus. Trout lives in the south end of the state. That’s a 2+ hour drive, as if you lived in San Diego but the show was in LA.
Except the entire drive takes place in New Jersey.

And...
Any length of driving in Jersey makes you long for southern California traffic
Phys: Well, Coon doesn't have a lot of power but he's a good bunter
Coon: F$%# That!

Hope to see him in the bigs in a few years.
He’ll sign quickly, and head over to Tempe or hang out with Mr. Kotchman for a while.
In Remembrance of Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, Henry Pearson. Heal soon Jon Wilhite.
I want Andrew Thomas Gallo to be a pinata, and the Angels supply the bats...

I think he wont be ready for about 4-6 years
Conger was draft in 06 and hes in Double-A now so lets say he stays in Double-A for the rest of the year and goes up to Triple-A next year and than gets called up in 2010 in September that would be about 4 years
And I think Bourjos will be in CF, Trout in LF and Grichuk in RF pretty BEASTY OF in 4-6 years

Players develop at different rates
Dave Winfield never spent one day in the minors (though he did have four years at U of Minn). Some players glide through low-A and high-A, then hit the wall in AA.
Everybody is different. Maybe Bourjos is the next CF, or maybe he can’t hit a big-league curve. We won’t know until he gets the chance, and the same goes for Trout and everyone else.
I think you’re correct that three years is optimistic for Trout, since he would be coming right out of high school. Adam Jones, who was a very highly-regarded high school player in San Diego, spent five years in the minors, with call-ups of 40 games or less in those last two seasons, before being traded to the Orioles in the Bedard deal and earning starting job in CF.

Best case scenario, the wall behind the RF seats will someday read Salmon and Trout

Scenario if the two top picks don’t sign
What happens if Trout and Grichuk decide to go to college…….are they again eligible for next year’s draft ?
If this is the case, then I would question the Angels decision to waste two high picks on players out of High School instead of more mature players from a college program. Although, with the fact Trout appeared at the Draft headquarters and seems very enthused to have been selected, I would surmise he will sign quickly.

South Jersey = Phillies
Since I am from there, living in South Jersey means you follow the Phils (unless you a weirdo like me who has always loved the Halos). Anyway, I was pleasantly surpripsed that the Angels picked Trout. He was this areas top prospect, obviously. Played at Millville HS. I’ll follow him closely………….

Hey, I just realized something...
In addition to Trout, we’ve got another “fish-based” guy… Hank Conger.
A Conger is a type of eel.

I don't care...
if he makes the cast of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy look like the front line of the ’72 Flyers.
If he can hit 25+ out of the park and not strike out 100 times a season, then let’s get him on the squad.
