ESPN Headline Flowchart

So there you sit, occasionally frustrated by the blind ignorance and utter failure of the East Coast Media to properly cover the sporting world outside of the Northeast United States in any meaningful depth. You rant. You rail. But do you ever wonder what is really going on inside and among those Herman-Miller cubicles safely esconsed in that rich, historic, sporting capital that is Bristol, Connecticut?

I did.

Based on not-so-exhaustive research, here are my findings. Taking a few sample news events and following them through the ESPN food chain, I demonstrate how information of merit plays out like the adolescent game of "Telephone" and morphs from reality to mythology. Mythology conveniently unrelated to the source material, of course.

Instead of shame, ESPN should probably earn some lifetime acheivement award for gymnastics. Quick. Somebody track down Avery Brundage!
