Its a merry go round that is difficult to stop. Hitters frustrated because relief blows leads and pitchers frustrated because hitters aren't consistent.
The problem should have been attacked a month or more ago. Scioscia takes just too damn much in stride hoping things will change. As a business owner I can tell you absolutely that surprise demotions and firings -- for cause -- definitely work and are preferred to continuing down the same old trodden road. Personally I'd sent most of the staff down to the minors and bring up another set of relievers. Why not? Those here aren't working and maybe the sting would jog their consciences. Maybe those brought up might surprise.
Texas has been a slumbering giant for many years developing pitching. Now they have it and they aren't slumbering. Nobody should be surprised at their fast start and its not likely that this year they will wilt in the summer at home -- the Angels shouldn't count on that happening.
