How long do you go with what you remember about a ballplayer, as opposed to what reality says he is now? How long do you wait for power to return when it might be gone permanently?
Steve Bisheff asks a good question.

If Angels scouting director Eddie Bane is on the money with the Angels' first of two first-round picks, Randal Grichuk -- pronounced GRICH-ick -- could emerge as a talent in the same mold of Rodriguez and Wood. That should make Angels fans happy for a very long time.

Defending Harold Reynolds - Beyond the Box Score
Is OPS a great stat? No. Will a slugger in a weak lineup receive more walks? Yes. Will his home runs be less valuable because pitchers will actually give him something good to hit only when it matters less? Probably. And -- allowing for some writing gaffes -- that's Harold's main point.
An interesting article by Sky Kalkman.
Baseball Digest Daily Blog " Blog Archive " Statistics Are Not Like Bikinis
Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.. . .
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics.
I have no idea who the founders of the quotes are, but I know that they do not consider the human factor in the application of statistics. (Isn’t it ironic that a Sabermetrician is asking others to consider the human factor?)

I think it's interesting you can find
someone here who knows so much about pretty much anything.
You are now the Paul McCartney expert of Halos Heaven.
"I see great things in baseball. It's our game, the American game. It will repair our losses and be a blessing to us."

“How long do you go with what you remember about a ballplayer, as opposed to what reality says he is now?”
REPLIES (two): Steve Finley. Shea Hillenbrand. Not saying that Vlad has become either one of those guys. Just answering the question. That’s how long Sosh can go.
“Kershaw…shut down a potent Los Angeles Angels lineup that leads the league in batting.”
REPLY: Sosh’s shit don’t work in one game. It’s all a crapshoot. Let’s see Kershaw pitch to the Halos 162 times this year, then we will assess.
“Randal Grichuk — pronounced GRICH-ick — could emerge as a talent in the same mold of Rodriguez and Wood.”
REPLY: See ya in 2014, Randy.
“Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital. There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics. I have no idea who the founders of the quotes are…”
REPLY: Aaron Levenstein and Benjamin Disraeli, respectively (I had to look up Levenstein.)
“SONY scraps…Moneyball”
REPLY: I guess not even Hollywood can convince anybody outside of Oakland to suspend that much disbelief.
