Whoever's in charge of Strength + Conditioning for pitchers...
Needs to get fired. This is way beyond any statistical norm. Somebody did not help our staff prepare for the season properly.
Not really
Check this out. There were at least 1500 DL transactions involving pitchers from 2002 to 2008, or about 7 per team per year. Just off the top of my head, the Angels have had Lackey, Santana twice, Moseley, Loux, Jepsen, Oliver, Shields, and now Arredondo. So that’s nine. Escobar was already on when the year started, and don’t think you can really count Nick Adenhart. An unlucky season for sure, but only two injuries over the seven-year average. When you consider there were only a couple of injuries to the pitching staff last year, the Angels have probably come out ahead in the long run.
research....love it.
Do it for Nick '09

Very good points
On the other hand, we are not even halfway through the season. So to even stay near the average, we would have to be injury free the rest of the season. God I hope so.

Also
I haven’t researched this, but I would assume that a lot of those DL transactions occur in the later part of the season due to fatigue injuries. Most of ours have come in the first couple of months, meaning more of a lack of preparation than anything.
If it turns around as Brody said, I’ll be happy but surprised.
speier wasnt on your list?
Rest in Peace Adenhart

I don't know much about this.
How bad is it?? What are we looking at??
Anyone have any insight on this type of injury. Is it just a couple of weeks, as the article suggests??

at least a month
according to today’s LA Times. if you read scioscia’s comments, it seems like the team doesn’t expect dondo to be a factor at all this season. very discouraging.

Arredondo will be treated with anti-inflammatory medication and is expected to be sidelined for at least a month.
“We know how much we were anticipating what he can bring to the bullpen, and we were hoping he could be a force for us in the second half,” Manager Mike Scioscia said. “But it doesn’t look like that’s going to be the case.”
Our offense seems to feed off each other... unfortunately, so does our bullpen.
In more ways than 1
RIP NICK ADENHART
