Tiananmen Square And Toronto Skydome
Just realized, today is the 20th anniversary of the brutal Tiananmen Square massacre AND the opening of the Toronto SkyDome (now called "Rogers Centre"). According to the OC Register, the Angels record was 36-64 after Tuesday Night's 100th game in that stadium. Maybe the Halos should take their chances out of the country under a portrait of Mao Tse Tung.

check the sitemeter map. All the hits from Shanghai are for Avril !!!!!!!!!!! We have won the culture war!
Again, you probably prefer the roads less traveled...
Brandon Wood is slated for 2010, and no amount of whining by us is gonna change that. So evolve, already!
Thanks to this posting
That lone brave soul standing in front of a tank will be forever linked in my mind with Rev hooking up with Avril. A true MTV generation moment.

I remember all of this Happening
I was in Japan and they were freaking that WWIII was on their doorstep. Trying not to sound like they were taking sides.
And Skydome. Them silly Hosers thing that us dumb Americans don’t understand that it is called “Skydome” and not “the Skydome”. The play by play guy just went on and on about that all game long.
Tiananmen
The most heartbreaking part was the fact that most of the people killed were those lining the streets trying to protect those inside the square. Of course, China has taken good care of those who weren’t killed (free room and board).
The Chinese have put under house arrest all who they suspect might cause unrest during this 20th anniversary.
Oh, and we wouldn’t fare well under Mao. Belief in Angels is a punishable crime.
Angel Pitching (Adenhart), Angel Defense - get past that.
I was in Asia last week
This was all over the news. In Hong Kong it is referred to as “the incident.” The Chinese official stance is that they now allow “safer” protests (i.e., ones that don’t embarass the ruling government). In Bangkok and Phnom Penh, it’s still called the massacre.
Truth is in this economy, the students have become very capitalist and are much more interested in $$ (or whatever the renminbi symbol is) than in democratic reform. In the end, greed rules, principals drool.
It is the surest sign that we have won the cultural war.
