It's very funny; brilliant, even

but on this gloomy June morning, it cuts too close to the bone for me to laugh at it. Sure, it’s far too early to call the season lost, and I still see a good chance of our winning the division. Nevertheless, I can’t shake the nagging suspicion that maybe, when you add up all our positives and negatives, we really are in fact just a .500 team this year.

And even that would be all right—we’ve been through much worse—except for the apparent fact that we are not fielding the best lineup the organization has to offer.

But this was hilarious. I started laughing as soon as I read the title and saw the pic, before I even had read the comic. The line between funny and sad is often very narrow.
