Gallo pleads Not Guilty
Do we have any lawyers on this site that can explain how/why he can enter this plea? Its obvious he was drunk, he was driving and he did kill 3/ injure 1.

I'm guessing the OC DAs did not offer a deal
or Gallo is completely delusional and refused to take a deal.
It’s too bad, really, because a trial is only going to increase the suffering of the victims’ families, but I do think that one good thing may come of it. You know, Gallo was in a residential program for drunk driving, and they kicked him out of it for misbehavior without evidently referring the matter back to the court who sent him there. I believe that when people flunk out of such programs, they should be returned to the court for a term in jail—otherwise, there is no incentive to complete the program. I hope that this issue is explored during the trial, and it leads to a change in the law to require residential programs to report back to the referring court under penalty of law whenever someone fails to complete the program.
