Don't mean to be the jerk here...
But Rory really botched that segment. I can understand it must be one of life’s most difficult things to do, and to remain professional and able to complete your job when personally touched by such an incident. My complaint was that he was really awkward, the tone in his voice was squeaky, and he was nowhere near capable of delivering something that didn’t feel forced.
I know a lot of you prefer his game-calling abilities to Phys, but I think having him do this segment was the wrong choice. I don’t mean this to bring back the broadcaster wars, but even Jose or BillyMac could have done a better job. It was just painful to listen to, aside from the content.
Again, if this makes me an insensitive asshole, sorry. It’s a touching story, but my wife and I were horrified by the narration.

Wow. I was so engrossed in the story, I didn't really notice the narration.
Maybe you’re right that one of the other ‘casters could have done better, but I didn’t notice anything objectionable from Rory.

I missed it too.
Rory always sounds to me like he’s about to have an asthma attack, kind of like he’s gasping a bit and stressed. Maybe there was more stress in his voice than usual, but I didn’t pick up on it.
.... as sexy as socks on a rooster.

well, I didn’t really mean objectionable, as in he did something terrible. it was more in the sense that he labored, and it isn’t a particular skill of his. not that he would really have any practice, just more in the sense that most anyone could have done better.
for me, it was sad, and moving, but the narration held me back from really connecting.

I enjoyed the parts where Jon actually spoke.
It’s hard to believe he could have such a sense of humor about the whole experience (“I tell people my head fell off, and they think I’m joking. Then I tell them No, it really fell off!”).
That scar up the back of his head was scary to see. Props to the paramedics, doctors, nurses, therapists and others that helped him survive. It’s a remarkable story.

Or when Jon was chatting with the Angels players
and talking about the fact that he survived, he said something like “I guess they didn’t want me yet… Kinda like my baseball career— no one wanted me.”
and @ feNOM, i agree a bit… I think Billy Mac, Mota, or even Phys might have done better narrations, but nevertheless, it’s still an incredible story. It’s nice to see some good come out of that horrible crash.
Heaven has another Angel. RIP, Nick Adenhart. You'll be missed.

Wow, for someone who was internally decapitated, he really is level-headed!
Stay strong, Jon!
