MLB Trade Rumors discusses moving Adrian Gonzales
Gonzalez could command a Mark Teixeira-esque haul. Do the Angels make such an offer? During this season, I have been pleasantly surprised that Acuda's Man Crush, Kendry Morales has exceeded most expectations. But Adrian Gonzales, who has a contract that runs through 2010 with the club holding an option for 2011 at $5.5 million and the big bat many Angels fans have been dreaming of. Contrary to making deals with the Diamond Backs for Harden and Blue Jays for Halladay, the Padres will be looking for low priced MLB ready talent and not necessarily prospects. Howie Kendrick, Eric Aybar, Shane Loux, and Garry Matthews Jr., with a lot of salary relief, or Reggie Willits or Sean Rodriguez. This would give the Padres a very young and affordable middle infield. Shane Loux could develop into a back of the rotation starter or a middle reliever. Aybar can add strength in defense and maybe a change of scenery could help Howie Kendrick. S-Rod could become a super-utility player or Matthews could add some veteran leadership and again, a change of scenery might help his play. In turn the Angels could move Morales to Right. Roster for the 2nd Half of the Season... 3B Figgins DH Abreu 1B Gonzalez CF Hunter LF Rivera RF Morales SS Wood C Napoli 2B Izturis

I saw the article earlier this morning.
I’ve envisioned something like your scenario for a long time. I also envisioned keeping Morales for RF, possibly throwing in Trumbo. The Angels are eventually going to have to do something with Terry Evans, too. The Pads would probably also be interested in SRod and/or Aybar as another option for the departed Khalil Greene. Nothing eminent here as other teams would probably press the haul of return players.
Interesting wish, but I would guess they’re probably going to move Peavy before they move the popular Gonzalez.
Somewhere along the line, the Angels are going to have to find another left-handed bat or two.

No need for Gonzalez IMO
If you are going to upgrade a position offensively, 1st base is not the place to do it
Play Wood already. Willits sucks.
