Matthews for Zito straight up.

The Giants get out of paying Zito, and we get rid of Matthews.

I’d be willing to take the chance that Butcher could straighten Zito out.

Also I was thinking that we could say Junior was GA, but Atlanta is in the NL East. So we might not get away with that one.

Here San Diego: we’ll trade you a guy hitting .216 in Salt Lake, who is about to turn 27, and has spent much of the season on the DL; a $30M reserve OF who is hitting .226 with a .611 OPS in the MLB; and a decent shortstop with chronic hamstring issues.

And in return, we’d like your franchise player, who is in the top three in the league in HRs and walks, and only costs $3M.

I agree.

Mainly because I proposed the insane trade idea, but also the fact that GMJ can take some notes from the youngster.

When you can rob homers with your eyes closed and shake up your opponent’s pitcher with an upper deck blast to kick off a ball game, you’re cool in my books.

But one question: Would Sizemore look good in Angels red? Someone photoshop a pic so we can see. :P

The two non-insane proposals both suck IMO.

And the insane ones will never happen obviously. But I’ve always been interested in Heath Bell and he could be available since the Madres suck. Not sure what we would have to give up for him but probably not Wood and he’d help our bullpen tremendously.

There's not going to be a monster trade

No matter how much we love SRod or Evans or the other kids with inflated offensive stats from the thin air of SLC, the “5 tool talent” does not exist at the top levels of our farm system to get Halladay, Haren, Lee, Cain, ect.

If we have to trade Weaver to get a SP, it makes absolutely no sense.
