Angels Back In On Halladay - MLB Daily Dish
Rumors in early July were that the Angels were preparing a "huge package" for Halladay that looked something like, pitcher Jered Weaver, a top pitching prospect such as Trevor Reckling or Jordan Walden, top hitting prospect Brandon Wood and a young big leaguer such as Erick Aybar or Howie Kendrick. No idea if that package is still on the table, but if you're curious what a Halladay package might look like, here it is. Two words, absurd and ridiculous.

Tampa Bay has been intensively scouting the Angels' system. While the Angels need middle-relief help, there is some belief they are going after a starter, and the Rays could make Andy Sonnanstine available. Sonnanstine is 2-0 with a 3.46 ERA since being sent down to Triple-A and is scheduled to come off the DL to pitch tonight after missing time with mononucleosis.

Go Big, baby
time for the Doc to make a house call
"Yeah, well…if fuckin’ Gandhi threw up a 5.70ERA, it doesn’t make him a great pitcher. " CKOD
For "Doc"...
…substitute the name “Tex” and your sense of deja vu will be complete.
Halladay guarantees nothing beyond a new pitcher on the mound every 5th day. The idea of trading away a pitcher like Weaver for one who will quite possibly be gone after next season is ludicrous, and doesn’t address the concerns regarding starting pitching (since parting out JerWe for Halladay still leaves the Angels with a question mark in the rotation).
I reread that and it was a rumor.
I think the person who started the rumor was pulling stuff out of their ass.
.... as sexy as socks on a rooster.
No rentals this year
especially if it were a pitcher since he won’t play every game
Please get rid of Speier. "Yes, I suck."- Jose Guillen.
R.I.P. Nick Adenhart, Marquis Cooper, Steve McNair, and Frank Grimes, or Grimey, as he liked to be called
halladay wont be worth it
the jays are asking too much and it wouldn’t be a huge upgrade if we parted with one of our starters
just get relief help and kick joe’s butt so he gets it in gear

E. None of the Above
what about Dan Haren?
i’d take him over Doc… neither has pitched much in the playoffs but Haren is younger and costs much less…

It's all about price of course
I’d trade offense prospects for Halladay but I wouldn’t trade Weaver. Trading a good starter to obtain a good starter seems pointless.
Wood and/or Kendrick/Izturis and any hitters in AAA or lower would be worth it though.
How much is Kazmir?
I like the guy. Plus, he’s a lefty right?
If we can get Kazmir, send Ervin to the pen to get his rhythm back.
Don't like Kazmir for us
he has a habit of high pitch counts, which could explose our failing bullpen…

PLAY FIGGINS ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!.....or not
do you guys think this would be to much or to little for Kazmir
Tommy Mendoza or Mark Trumbo
Bobby Wilson
PJ Phillips (throw in)
R.I.P. Nick Adenhart #34
Rays would like the prospects,
but I don’t trust Kaz…
Figgins is an All-Star. Period. Congrats, my Figster!
not enough
a major league pitcher and a top prospect is the only way that they continue the discussion.
