J.P. thinks he's a GM, hah!
8:00pm: FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal just heard from Ricciardi that the chances of Halladay leaving Toronto at this point are "very slim." Here's more from the general manager:
"We've said that we would listen, but that we would have to be motivated and 'wowed. Right now we haven't been. I've said all along my gut tells me I won't be. I still stand by that."
"If we get to the last week," Ricciardi added, "and haven't really made any progress with anybody, I'm not going to say it's 100 percent certain, but I would have to pretty much think it's not going to get done."
It sure sounds like the Blue Jays aren't going to lower their asking price.

The Jays just rejected the latest from the Phills too……..Whatever JP…..it’s your world, we’re all just pawns to your king.
Checkmate.

he's a clown, look at the deals he gave...
vernon wells and bj ryan. the wells contract makes the gmj contract look like a one year league minimum contract.

Dumbass
well at least we don’t lose any players
Please get rid of Speier. "Yes, I suck."- Jose Guillen.
R.I.P. Nick Adenhart, Marquis Cooper, Steve McNair, and Frank Grimes, or Grimey, as he liked to be called

This is a bit of a relief
I would’ve hated to lose two of our starters and only get one of theirs, while also having to worry about Santana figuring things out.

Wait till Roy's contract year.
No leverage, a little more desperate to pull the trigger.
Dude wanted Weaver, Aybar, Wod and a prospect? ROFL

This guy is high and still blowing smoke!
When I'm not at the stadium, I'd rather be watching my Halos back in Costa Rica!

im gonna wait til the deadline passes to pass judgment
he could just be posturing…but if they dont make a deal because theyre stubborn about what THEY perceive his value to be, then all the more power to him when he’s fired.
toronto is strapped with one of the worst contracts in baseball in vernon wells that HE gave out (severely backloaded, i believe $20M a year starting next season) and are a lock for 4th place if not dead last in the AL East for the immediate future
Isnt it the job of the GM to build for the future? To, you know, do like the rays and stockpile young players to the point where you can overtake boston and new york? The return on roy halladay will never be higher than it is this week and if he fails to get anything for the guy because hes stubborn, let him fail. Congrats, you get to pay him the remaining $20M and finish in 4th place and watch him walk away. Neat!

Good.
I’ve said it all along. I don’t want Halladay. Too expensive. Doing just fine thank you very much.
When he trades him in the offseason I will have a laugh
Diminished value.
Play Wood already. Willits sucks.
