I find it hard to connect with any other sports team....
I was just wondering if anybody else out there finds it hard to be a fan of any other team besides the Angels. I can't find it in me to be a fan of any other team in sports. I really like watching NFL football but I don't have 1 team I really like, like I do the Angels. I just really like to watch a good game between 2 teams. I don't have a second favorite baseball team like I know some people do. I do like the Twins as a team, I respect their play. But I wouldn't say I am a fan of theirs.
I have been a die hard fan of the Angels since the mid 1970's. I always had good experiences at Angels games. I remember throwing paper airplanes onto the field from way up in General admission. Popping the soda cups on the ground and making them bang and echo in the stadium after the game was finished. I just can't see me being a fan of any other team in sports.
This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

I have really loved the New England Patriots. Since 1973. But I really have a hard time connecting to them.
Mostly I have to enjoy them in near total isolation at home. Why? Because the team is surrounded by hordes of absolute jackass fans and I really, really, really hate my fellow fanatics.
We don't have a Bullpen. We have a Cowpen. Before we get to call it a Bullpen these guys gotta grow a pair.
for me its

3. 49ers
4. Chelsea (EPL)
5. Cal Basketball

i can't remember if it was somebody talking about springsteen or...
u2 but when asked, “how did you find them, to start listening and become a fan”, the person replied, “i didn’t find them, they found me.” that’s kind of how i feel about the angels.
As far as pro teams go
haven’t had a football team since the Rams left but there have to be a ton of Angels / Lakers fans.
My Teams
1. Angels
2. Hurricanes football
3. 49ers
500. OK Sooners
Play Wood already. Willits sucks.
Angels and Notre Dame football...
Grew up in a catholic football family. Huge fan of both and wish they could just be good at the same time.
I am sure I will be a big fan of any NFL that sets up shop here in L.A., but for some reason it will really bother me if they don’t change the name. I don’t care what they are called I just want something different, no Vikings or Saints or Chargers.
how about we up the odds
1. my gal
2. my career
3. the Angels (at times they have been #1)
4. my family
5. my friends
6. Halos Heaven
7. My idiosyncratic belief system on the nature of existence that I will avoid identifying
8. Green Bay Packers
9. Lakers but only because they are trendy and winning right now
10. Bob Dylan (he has been #1 at times)
No Ducks at all?
What if they made it to the cup this year?
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
Personally, I want to have a thread delving into #7.
Especially if it entails sacrificing of virgins on Thunder Mountain.

Missing option
Yeah, I’m a fan of another team somewhere, but nothing like the Halos.
I’m a Laker fan (have been since I was a kid — Jerry West was my hero). But it’s not the same as the passion I have for Angels Baseball.
Angels fan since '67
One sport. One team.
For me it’s the Angels and only the Angels. Playing baseball is also 2nd to none.

I have another, longer standing love...
…in Liverpool football club. However, my relationship with Liverpool is of an earthier, darker, more inflammatory nature, perhaps indicative of the sport itself (I have friends, good friends, that I cannot speak to about football for 8 months of the year (we are all aware of this) unless England are playing). Liverpool FC is that first love, the one you could never quite work it out with – it is adulterous, it is exciting, but it is a lover I cannot spend any prolonged time with, because whenever I think we’re getting along, she slaps me repeatedly in the face. Nevertheless, when she calls I come running.
My love for the Angels is very different. It is more devoted, it is more thoughtful – it gets daily love and attention. It inspires my geeky obsessive side. It occupies an inordinate amount of my time, and despite the frustrations it sends my way (and there are many) it’s something that I couldn’t do without.
The Angels are the missus, Liverpool is the mistress.
I see red people
Liverpool keeps penciling their name onto my dance card of sports life.
They are a dalliance still, but quite enchanting.

I just wish they played more Liverpool games out here...
they are definitely my EPL team but not too many matches shown out here…

Throw in some Radiohead, a couple pints of Guinness, and Jessica Burciaga and I’m good to go.
Apologies in advance.
There's an NL Central team I cheer for
And it ain’t the Cubs!
Though after the way the last 2 months have gone, it’s looking more and more like I’ll only have the Halos to root for come October. Just like most years.
My Teams
1. Angels
2. Cleveland Browns
3. Ohio State Buckeyes – Football and Basketball
4. Milwaukee Bucks
5. NY Rangers
I have lived in NJ my whole life except for the year I spent as a student at Ohio State. started rooting for the Angels in ‘79, the Browns in ’80 when they were good. I will admit that I jumped on the bandwagon as a kid, but I never jumped off. The Bucks I don’t remember when I started rooting for them, but it was sometime during when they had Sidney Moncrief and Marques Johnson. I went to Ohio State for a year but my fandom goes back further. My aunt and uncle lived in Columbus, and my aunt was a big fan and got me into them as a kid.
Gowing up in NJ, I rooted for the NY teams to do well, because my mother was from NYC and my father was from North Jersey. I grew up rooting against the teams from Philadelphia.
We're putting the band back togehter.
Angels and Bills...........
and other than that……I could really care less……although Jim Harbaugh is slowly getting me excited about Stanford again.

That must hurt.
We don't have a Bullpen. We have a Cowpen. Before we get to call it a Bullpen these guys gotta grow a pair.
For me, it's relatively simple
Angels
BYU Football
UCLA Basketball
Lakers
Anyone playing the Rams
Nothing matches my passion for the Angels. I don’t really hook up into college football until after October — either because I’m preoccupied with the Angels, in mourning or both.
UCLA basketball was the antithesis of the Lakers and it was something else I share with my Dad.
My passion for the Lakers has waned over the years (like RedFloyd the West/Baylor years were my personal “Red Sox They’ll Win It Next Year” fixation). I really loath Kobe and for a time I thought I had put them behind me, but the last two years have sucked my back in.
I used to make fun of the “boohoo the Dodgers left me and the O’Malley’s suck” Brooklyn Dodger fans, but when that whore of showgirl murdered Carroll Rosenbloom and took the Rams to St. Louis, I snapped and was punished by the karma that Rev is so passionate about. I hope that bitch rots in hell and I don’t want the Rams to be anything other than 9-7, 8-8, 7-9 so they can never draft high and never rebuild.
See? Simple. My therapist says that I’m going to make her very wealthy.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Hating the dumb blonde is probably good for you!
But you still hold her actions against the Rams themselves? That’s cold.
Captain, there are doubt's...
Me too, man. Me too.
And I won’t be absolved until the NFL parks a new team here in SoCal, and SoCal mandates that for the privilege, the NFL has to give back to us the team name and logo and history prior to The Dumb Blonde.
P.S. – screw Cleveland and it’s prior claims.

wow, putting it in writing is scary. Sorry I digressed for a minute.
When they were younger & I couldn’t watch the games anymore I started playing with my turn tables again because the music would entertain them.
About a year ago I started doing it professionally at clubs, which has now turned into 5 nights a week minimum. So that along with a day job that always seems to be more than 40 hours a week doesn’t leave much time for other sports.
So yeah I have more time, just choose to fill it with the hotties in the club!

same here
same here, but I’ve been a Kings fan much longer than an Angels fan… not that I didn’t enjoy going to Angels / baseball games before I officially declared my allegiance to the Halos. it’s just that before that, I was officially teamless in MLB.
I was happy as anyone for the Angels when they won in 2002, but I acknowledged I wasn’t a party to it and I don’t believe in being a championship bandwagon fan. when Disney sold to Arte (I like Disney, just not in sports, so I had an ownership problem) and Vladdy came to town, that was enough for me to get behind the team, and carry the torch full time.
I’m also a Bears fan (NFL) and USC fan (NCAA), but I spend much, much less time cheering for or following my teams around.

that's not a bandwagon fan
there are two seasons in Hockey: one interminably long boring one; and one that matters. you just watch the one that matters
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Nothing will ever top the Angels
1. Angels
(huge dropoff)
2.Lakers
3. Ducks
4. Indy Colts
I’ve always liked the Lakers, but my intrest has grown significantly over the past few seasons and i now make it a point to attend at least one game a year. Too bad the ticket prices are outrageous.
The Ducks were a favorite since the disney movies (I’m only 21, so it wasn’t that long ago). hockey is one of the most entertaining sports to watch live, so I gotta support my local team. Besides, I like being part of the Angels fans+Ducks fans culture. Gotta put Anaheim on the sports map!
As for the Colts, no real loyalty here, I’m just a huge Peyton Manning fan. When it comes to football, I only enjoy NFL and really root for teams with elite QBs. My favorite team timeline goes like this:
Rams (until they moved, but still rooted for them in the Super Bowl)
49ers (Montana/Young)
Broncos (Elway)
Colts (Manning)
But nothing will ever compare to the Halos.

If you like the NBA, chances are you like at least 3 teams.
That league is all about the stars so it’s hard to not have rooting interests for teams that have players you like. I feel in baseball it’s ok to have one favorite in each league. Football is just not my thing. Here’s my list.
1. Angels (I am not a fan. I LOVE this team.)
2. Lakers
3. Blazers (Hard not to like these guys if you live in Portland)
4. Mavericks (Dirk Nowitzki is my favorite player behind Kobe)
5. Ducks (Love going to the Honda Center to see games)
My favorite NL team is the Braves but they don’t crack the top 5.
Chili Davis - the closest thing the MLB got to a real life Pedro Cerrano.
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
Arsenal Football Club
Middlesex County Cricket Club
No order necessary, they are not in conflict with each other.

Angels are number 1
Others float up to number 2 depending on the time of year:
Football: Arsenal FC/US Men’s National Team
American rules football: Rams
College lacrosse: Syracuse/Cornell
College football: Michigan
My least favorite team, in every sport, is the New York Yankees.
Captain, there are doubt's...
Angels all the way baby...
I have been infected by a weird “Angel” virus. The main symptom is spending excessive amounts of time fixating on all things related to Angels baseball. The symptoms never abate. Minor league teams and players, Angels history, trade speculation…you name it, and I likely have thought about it some time during the day. There simply is no cure for this affliction…
…and it’s contagious! My wife and son are similarly afflicted. Unfortunately, my daughter (black sheep of the family) somehow got a “Dodger” inoculation. Gladly, I have spread the virus to some neighbors and co-workers. This kind of “misery” truly loves company.
A distant 2nd is UCLA basketball. Growing up in the 60’s, I was totally enamored of John Wooden…to the point that I paid my own way to attend his basketball school for 4 consecutive years. What a truly great man. I still follow Bruin basketball, and I enjoy Ben Howland’s coaching style. But….it just isn’t Angel baseball. Anymore, it’s a distraction while awaiting the next season of Angel baseball.
Angels and then baseball
at any division/level.
Last year I watch boys/friends that I helped coach, and umpire, for many seasons win the Little league World Series. That was one great summer for us that will never happen again.
Then there is U of Hawaii. Gotta haveta cheer for “Da Home Team”. It’s the only thing in town.
Angels and Lakers
The two teams I follow closely are the Angels and the Lakers, and the Lakers probably do win the top dog in my sports world crown. I don’t know why really. I was brought up an Angel fan, my dad is an Angel fan and I was conceived and then born during the hysteria of ‘79, so Angels baseball is in my blood. Still, I usually watch all 48 minutes of all 82 Laker games…while I can’t say I do the same for every single Angels game (is that even practical?).
I love almost all sports…and follow a lot of them closely. I love the NFL, but don’t have a favorite team.
Nick Adenhart - 1986 - 2009 R.I.P.
Angels above all else
2. UCLA basketball/football. I went to school there for 5 years, and I was raised on them so never gonna shake that one either
Big gap
Ducks
Lakers
49ers
Chargers.
It’s hard for me to get into anything else beside baseball, and I have some sense of personal connection to UCLA. These teams I love. The other ones I just like.
RIP #34
For me...
It’s tough to choose between 1 and 2, but I’d probably have to go with the Angels for #1.
1) Angels
2) Galaxy
3) Ducks
A bit of an interesting list for me
1a. Angels (They affect my grades… it’s bad, in a good kinda way)
1b. USC Everything especially football (watching a game at the Coliseum is a magical experience… Fight On)
2. Polish National Soccer Team (Biało Czerwonym)
3. Utah Jazz
4. Utah Utes Football
5. Ducks
6. Chargers
7. Liverpool FC
8. Galaxy
