Halos are Ultimate Sports Franchise - (from ESPN)!
Not sure if anyone has seen this yet, but ESPN The Magazine has named the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as the No. 1-ranking franchise of all 122 professional sports teams. The article will appear in the July 13th issue of the magazine.
So says a snippet from the website article: "The Los Angeles Angels are No. 1 in our Ultimate Standings because they understand the importance of value, performance and effort -- and did so long before the recession hit."
Also: "their knack for identifying talent, executing Sciosciaball and developing good pitchers has the Angels in pennant contention virtually every year (Title Track: tied for No. 1). ..."
There is also a cool video featuring Arte, the Soth, Torii, Figgy, Lackey and the Rally Monkey to accompany the piece. The cover of the mag looks pretty cool too.

It was promoted to the front page
but for some reason, Fanshots can’t be moved to the top after something else has been posted (or else I’ve been unable to figure out how).

We don't have a Bullpen. We have a Cowpen. Before we get to call it a Bullpen these guys gotta grow a pair.

Cool but
They must be ignoring the rat-franks and cucaracha ice cream the Big A got busted for a few years ago. Ha ha.
Plus, all the violence going at the stadium this year is disturbing, and not very model-franchise-esque. A friend of mine said he heard they’re going to beef up security like at Doyers Stadium with their snipers in turrets. It bothers me to see Angels fans becoming more like Doyers fans – no class.
I guess that has nothing to do with the team itself though. They can’t control the quality of their fans. It’s a catch twenty-two because the more popular the team gets, the more scum it will attract.
Keep those hammies limber, boys.

I think it's more a factor of simply more scum in general in OC ...
When I was growing up in OC in the 70s the scum factor was almost negligible, then grew exponentially until 2003 when I finally moved to Britain to marry my English wife.
The only difference now is, the scum in London speak with (mostly) English accents.

I don't know
the north county beaches had pletnty of scum in the 70’s. There were parts of SantaAna/Anaheim/Westminster/Fullerton that were pretty dicey.
But I do agree, the more people you have, the more scum you get and there are a SHITLOAD more people now in OC than there were 40 years ago
This season just seems jinxed. If it can go wrong, it does

I'm just talking about the Big A specifically.
I didn’t grow up in OC. I’m in Santa Barbara. So, I can’t say how pleasant OC was back in the day. Plus, I think I’m younger than you guys. But I’m sure the theory holds up that the bigger your city gets, the more scum it will attract or breed (which is why SB tries so hard to stay small and snobby). Therefore, a baseball game held in said bigger city will subsequently attract more scum. It’s science.
If we really want to break it down, the greatest factor is that the traditional Judeo-Christian morals that this country was founded on are being adhered to less and less as the years go by. If it were possible for a city to continue to grow, and simultaneously continue to practice morality, then we would have more people, and less scum. However, I think it’s in our nature to decay. Entropy is a bitch.
Keep those hammies limber, boys.
