Santana Pounded Again Early
Ervin Santana is one of my favorite pitchers for the Angels, especially last year. But, 1-3 with a 7.47 ERA and tonight is not pretty. 5 runs given up in the first 3 innings. As I have stated earlier, Lackey will be fine, but I am concerned about Santana. Saunders is also going through a Sophomore slump as he was hit hard in his last start at Texas. The question for Angel fans, is there a concern for Santana? Or will he turn it around this year?
3 areas need to be addressed before trade deadline, in which I think we will be grateful if one is addressed.
1. Bullpen (set up man)
2. Another starter? Especially with what I see from Santana, and how much can we really get out of Palmer and O' Sullivan?
3. Still would like to see a power bat, as Vladdy suddenly has no power.
I think Dan Haren would be a fine addition to our staff, does any one know when he will be a free agent? I hope we keep Wood and do not move him in any trade.

1. Reagins said today, or yesterday that although he has had quite a few conversations, nothing is imminent, nor looks good. We’re playing pretty good ball; something will happen, but I expect to see the same ’ol.
2. Doubtful. S.O.S. has looks great, but we’ll see about tomorrow. As far as Ervin, remember, it’s July, and he’s thrown how many starts? He’s where Lackey was a few starts ago. He’ll get it back—maybe not what he had last year, but certainly better than what he had in ‘07. Also, as far as tonight, Aybar’s fubar in the first was the margin for the game…
3. Rivera and KMO have stepped up. Only change I want to see re: Vlad is him batting lower in the order. Also, please welcome “hitmanhowie” back to the lineup, probably at the expense of Aybar more than Maicer. We have a few weeks to the deadline to see how it goes, and when it “goes,” it goes both ways—for us, or showcasing for others.
4. Dan Haren isn’t going anywhere with Webb on the DL. He’s also signed through the next 3-4 years. To get talent, you must give up talent…

Do your research man...

I typed into Google “Dan Haren contract” and what do you know?! The first thing that came up was an article stating : “D-Backs sign Haren through 2012”.
There are a bunch of varying opinions on this site which is partially why this site is so great. However, I learned quickly, that the best thoughts and opinions are backed by some sort of stats and even the tiniest bit of research.
Just a thought…

But don't you find that Santa Claus brings pennants to the teams with the best chemistry?
We don't have a Bullpen. We have a Cowpen. Before we get to call it a Bullpen these guys gotta grow a pair.

you mean like the A's or the Bronx Bombers of the 70's?
This season just seems jinxed. If it can go wrong, it does

That Santana
Has a tear in an elbow ligament.
Nick, you will always be an Angel. And you will be missed.

I thought that comment
Came after the Detroit start this year, in which that Santana gave up one earned run—the very same Santana with a tear in his elbow ligament. :-D
RIP Nick Adenhart.

Why didn't Scioscia give Santana a chance at a Complete Game?
Bastard.
Fun with the internet: Click the link provided in your post. There, you’ll find a photo of Santana and a link below that which promises to lead you to his full career stats.
Next, count the number of seasons he’s been pitching at the pro level. Jeepers, he’s in his 5th season!
Kind of hard for him to be having a “Sophomore slump”, huh?
The internet is so chockablock of data and information, much of it farm fresh and hot-from-the-oven good, that there really is no excuse to refer to Santana as a Sophomore or to wonder openly about when Dan Haren’s contract is up.
To answer your last question, though, there is no indication the D’backs are seriously courting offers for Haren, but a winning bid from the Angels would most assuredly include Wood.
The Rockies need offense, but the team also needs defense. The team last night just had another game like the ones against the Angels, where the team committed a string of errors in a single play and allowed another “inside the park home run” with a single and multiple errors. Guys like Max Scherzer are much better pitchers than their records indicate because the terrible defense behind them keeps them from winning games. It may come to the point where the team dangles Harren with the hope of garnering 4 or 5 players who can help the D’backs by rising to the club over the next two seasons. As I said before, think of what the Rangers received for Teixeira; that trade, which was not quite two years ago, has provided the Rangers with its starting C, SS, one of its starting pitchers and two more pitchers at the minors level (one of whom, Feliz, could be the best pitcher to rise from the Rangers organization in decades). This is what the D’backs will want for Haren, so adjust your level of pain in who the Angels would have to give up to get Haren accordingly. Wood, Walden, O’Sullivan, Rodriguez, Reckling, Bell, Kendrick, Ortega—all of them would be on the table, with most of them included in a deal for Haren.
That’s because there is no way Arizona can continue to play as it has thus far this season.

Amending my statement

Providing we’re not discussing pitchers named Volquez.

I thought this post was going to complain that ...
Santana wasn’t allowed to pitch up to 200 pitches in this game.
I love this team.

technically
he said Saunders is having a sophomore slump, which is still incorrect, but maybe just a little less so. And is Haren going to be the new Peavy around here? He ain’t going anywhere, folks.

Mea culpa
Yes, it did say “Saunders”, which I missed since the author didn’t keep to a focused thought and switched pitchers.
But Saunders is no more a Sophomore than Santana. In Saunders’ case, his Sophomore year was his breakout year.

Dear sir,
what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
This team is gonna kill me.

A simple no would have been fine.
Billy Maddison is hilarious and plus 1 for being able to remember that word for word.
Phys: Well, Coon doesn't have a lot of power but he's a good bunter
Coon: F$%# That!
Thanks Zu

I checked IMDB to make sure I got it right
