Justin Speier Released as Angels Welcome Trevor Bell
As reported earlier tonight, before Tuesday's game, the Angels released Justin Speier to make room on the 40 and 25 Man rosters for Trevor Bell who will start Wednesday afternoon's game in Anaheim.
By releasing (Instead of Designating For Assignment) Justin Speier, the Angels made it easier for the veteran relief pitcher to sign on with another team more quickly.
The Angels owe him almost $7 million for the rest of this season and next, minus the major league minimum salary he would be paid by any team that signs him as a free agent, the status he now holds.
Justin Speier as an Angel
8 - 13, 4.39 ERA
158 IP (ranks 114th all-time Angels out of 390 pitchers)
685 Batters Faced (also ranks 114th in franchise history)
149 Hits, 77 ER, 142 Ks, 54 BB
ERA+: 103

Time to move on
He may have been with us for a while, but we need to make room for new talent.
I wish the best of luck to Speier. Hope he finds a team that needs him.
And here’s to Trevor Bell. Hope he comes out on fire (not literally) on that mound tomorrow.
Time for the Angels pitchers to get back to work! Go Angels!

Although coming out literally on fire would be interesting, to say the least.
RIP Nick Adenhart.

I'll remember him for his 2007 year
51 games and 36 hits in 50 innings with an ERA of 2.88. That is what we expected of him when we signed him and he came through. To bad he couldn’t sustain it.
Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

I'll remember him for being at his last game as an Angel where he gave up 3 bombs in one inning
including one to a guy who hadn’t hit a homer in 2 yrs. Good luck and all but enough is enough.

Trevor Bell........The Bell will RING up many Rays, and be real good in many ways!
He’ll be consistant till the end, until our Saundo comes again. And when he has another chance, well see his magic from the stands!
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He'll probably end up a Cardinal
And then we’ll face them in the WS. And then it’ll bite us in the ass.
Ok. I guess not.

he'll go to another team
and He’ll mysterioulsy will get great again. Gee I wonder what substance would help you do that. Like his whatever caused his weird stomach ailment that he had a few years back.
Just don’t go to Texas, Boston, NYY, or Baltimore —Speier you will be a good pitcher again but you will have lost your sould. Please just go to some NL team and be a servicable 7th inning guy again.
good luck out there

FINALLY....!!!!!
How the hell did this inept loser stay around so long with the Angels. 13 losses last year were directly atttributable to his “efforts” and this year he was toxic in even sure win situations. Good riddence.
