Howie Sets Career Highs

With the game tonight, Howie Kendrick set career highs in home runs (7) and RBIs (41). He'd already set a career high in walks a month ago (now has 17, previous high was 12); has tied his career high in triples (2), and will likely break his career high in stolen bases (11) before he gets to his career high in plate appearances (361; he's got 68 to go). Not bad for a lousy year! Of course, it will also be not bad if he ever even qualifies for a batting title....

Most promisingly, in 25 games since coming back from the minors, Howie's hitting .356/.404/.529, with 20 runs, 19 RBIs, 7 walks and 13 strikeouts. To the naked eye, he seems to be at least wrestling the strike zone to a draw, instead of getting overwhelmed each time up.

Atta Boy, Howie!

Its too bad that so many fans wrote him off earlier in the season. He truly is a solid ballplayer and a fine member of our team. Plus, his career highs are so low because of him not playing an entire season. Just wait, he’ll be great

Let's go Howie...

Howie is way more confident...

I agree with your comment about Howie and the strike-zone. He needs to have a better eye and learn to take more walks if he is going to be the star we all want him to be.

Sit him down next to Abreu…

Only bad thing about being "this seasons" Angels bench guru is ..

they all have to look for work the next season, but boy do we “luck out” with the good ones every year.

We almost had Jose Canseco back in 2000 or 2001

I saw him CRUSH homers in Tempe…in batting practice. I have never seen a ball hit so far.

In Remembrance of Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, Henry Pearson. Heal soon Jon Wilhite.

I want Andrew Thomas Gallo to be a pinata, and the Angels supply the bats...

Oh, and W6G.

All of Howie's HRs this year have been hit over 400 feet

None of Howie’s HRs this season have been cheap. No little 340 foot chip shots into some short porch. Below are the distances and the stadiums where the homers were hit.

433 (Angel Stadium) This was the one he hit into the 2nd bullpen yesterday.
412 (Angel Stadium)
446 (Kauffman) An incredible monster shot to straightaway center in KC.
410 (Safeco) Into the upper deck in left. That doesn’t happen very often at Safeco.
414 (Oriole Park)
420 (Angel Stadium)
415 (Angel Stadium) Opposite field shot. Very impressive as the ball cleared the high wall in deep right center.

"Oriole Park" is Camden Yards.

I stand corrected.

It’s “Oriole Park at Camden Yards”.

dude

dude is a .314 career hitter coming into this season. I was not particularly concerned during the prolonged slump (certainly not prolonged by Hillenbrand/Finley standards)! it seemed he started hitting again even before he was sent down.

I was pretty concerned about him.

And you won’t find a bigger Kendrick fan than me. He was awful in his approach just about every at bat. He’s looked a LOT better since his return.

you're right

the funny thing is I typed .306 from memory, figured my memory kinda sucks I better look it up, checked Yahoo and came up with .314. I accidentally omitted 2006 stats, .306 it is.
