Bronson Arroyo is delusional
His worst comment was the following.
As for the potential health risks? "It might be dangerous," he said, according to the report, "but so is drinking and driving. And how many of us do it at least once a year? Pretty much everybody."
Personally I'm offended that he has such a low view of mankind. Most people DO NOT go drinking and driving once per year and the fact that Bronson wants to say that to try and justify his scumbag life makes me sick.
How many more fellow posters have never gone drinking and driving?
Also I realize some people do go drinking and driving but of those people most of them won't try to rationalize it by saying everyone is doing it like Arroyo here.

I would rather read candidness and honesty from a player
than just the “party line” or nothing at all whatever the subject entails. It is rare to get insight into what a player really thinks, which is always more interesting than what he is supposed to say or the politically correct thing to say.

I totally agree
I respect Arroyo’s willingness to speak the truth. That said, I still hope the Angels don’t get him.

I'm not saying he didn't have some interesting things to say
but do you think that “everybody” drinks and drives?

Not any more.
I wonder what amount of Arroyo growing up in the south has to do with his views on drinking though.

How's that bubble you're living in?
Do I get shit-faced drunk and go driving? Never (at least not in years). Do I have a couple drinks and drive? On occasion. I think that’s a fair comment to make about most people. I work in a restaurant and see it pretty often. I’m not saying it makes it right, but give the guy some credit for being open and honest.

my reply below was meant for you
just searching google for stats on the matter and found this.
“In 2002, 2.3% of Americans 18 and older surveyed reported alcohol-impaired driving, compared with only 2.1% in 1997. "
Now certainly I think 2.3% is understated but even if you multiply it by 20 less than half of the people out there drive intoxicated, certainly less than “everybody”.

I'm not bashing your finding
But it’s a problem with the poll there. It’s probably higher because why would a person admit something like that? Polling has always had this problem, and there is no solution.

I don't think Bronson is talking about having a drink or two and driving
because he was referring to it as dangerous. I don’t think many people would say having a drink or two and going out driving is all that dangerous.
But if Arroyo is talking about a drink or two and driving then of course most people do that, and I’d agree with you I’m not stupid. But if you interpret it as “everybody” puts themselves in a position where they drive drunk once a year, then no I do not concur with that. I’d think closer to a 1/4 to 1/5 of the people out there drive intoxicated at least once a year.

Arroyo's comment was very dumb
Because steroids, HGH, and the like are almost exclusively dangerous to one’s own self whereas drinking and driving is putting others at risk in addition to one’s self. It’s an extremely unintelligent comparison to make.
It’s also incredibly stupid of him to use other supplements not on the recommended list and admit that he doesn’t know if he is using anything against the rules. Is it laziness? Irresponsibility? Disrespect for the rules of the game? Just failure to give a crap at all? Either way, it’s not positive.
Look. I like candidness and honesty from a player too (and I am very sick of hearing how PED’s have ruined baseball and tainted the game), but Arroyo basically says that he did some crappy things, defends why he did those crappy things, and that he is still kind of an idiot. I don’t know that you can really compliment the guy for anything of substance that he actually said other than the fact that he was being honest.

Obviously
he’s not the most eloquent guy out there, but I think the big picture is that guys are still doing anything they can to get an edge. It’s been said before, but the labs creating masking agents and designer steroids are always going to be 2 steps ahead of those monitoring the testing. As we move on, there are just going to be more supplements – and more powerful supplements – that will simply emulate (and maybe even match) the effects of steroids. This issue is far from dead.
