Why watch the waiver wire? Weaver's the way to win The West.
Some names have been tossed around about who the Angels should go after to improve our pitching. It seems like a lot of fans here don't understand how waivers work. Since we are at the top of our division, we are one of the last teams to get a chance to claim a player off waivers. So, there is little to no chance we are going to get Heath Bell, or any other good player off waivers this season.
I think our only hope is that enough of our in-house pitchers turn it around down the stretch. The bullpen has certainly settled down, though. In the past 30 days, Jepsen, Bulger, Oliver, and Palmer all have ERA's under 3.00. If they keep it up, and Fuentes has no more hiccups, the pen should be okay.
What we really need is to have at least one, if not two, of our starting pitchers step it up. Lackey and Santana look good right now, but there's no way two starters can carry us to and through the post season. I really hope Weaver isn't injured and hiding it like Saunders was. Let's hope that last start was just a fluke. We need Weave to return to form immediately to make this last push to the playoffs.

Oh no!
We are screwed now! That was the missing piece to their World Series push. Now they’re gonna mow over the Angels.
NOT!

Pudge retired years ago,
It’s his skeleton that remained in the game.
This season is my best chance to get called out of the stands to pitch.

My only point was that it would be illogical NOT to watch the waiver wire just in case there is an option to improve the team. Pudge helps the Rangers anemic catching corps. Do I think it’s a breakthrough move? OF COURSE NOT.

Weaver returning to form
Yes, I dream of this. And Joe too. And soon.
Angel Pitching, Angel Defense - get past that.

On the topic of Weaver
FanGraphs has a new article.
Smoltz = Weaver [The Good One]
Quote from the article:
“But, for both pitchers, our expectations should be similar going forward.”

After last night's performance.
Suddenly, our playoff hopes are looking a little more tangible (especially with TX coughing up leads every night). If we get there, and have a solid Lackey, Santana, and Weaver followed by a fourth decent guy (hopefully Saunders), and the bullpen continues to play this more settled-down brand of ball, we should be a force to be reckoned with.
This season is my best chance to get called out of the stands to pitch.

agreed, Lacky and Weaver are starting to pitch gems. sure we’re gonna need a 3rd pitcher to step up, but with our offense going, we arent going to need much pitching help just something like suando giving 4 runs up in 3 innings.
I’m a bit worried about fuentes tho, he has been terrible
In Kobe we trust!
