I know, I know, there are plenty of people who don't think fondly of Jon Garland (the Human Rain Delay). Reports have the Diamondbacks placing him on waivers. His record at first glance isn't that impressive.
But looking at his numbers over July and Aug, he deserves a much better W-L than he currently has, if only he played on a team which would give him run support and a bullpen to close out games. He lost several games or had a ND because he couldn't get support.
He also figures to be more reliable than trotting out O'Sullivan or Bell every 5th game to make a 5 IP start, taxing the bullpen accordingly.
I suspect the D'backs would prefer to get out from under the contract, since the team has been circling the drain for months. Should the Angels flip a couple of players to Arizona, take on the remainder of Garland's contract (a $2.5M buyout for 2010 if the Angels don't want him next year) and place him in the rotation?
Don't ponder the question, just make a snap answer--yes or no?
