Darren Oliver considering playing another year.
Bill Shaikin's article in the Los Angeles Times tomorrow quotes Oliver: "I'm leaning more toward playing than retiring," Oliver said. "We'll make a decision in the off-season, hopefully after we win the World Series."
The article also mentions that we'll have to pay him a bit more for next year if he does agree to stay.

They plan on making inductions to the Angels HOF and “annual event”? Wouldn’t they run out of numbers in not that long if it happens annually?
Really the only other members that I could see joining are Salmon, Percy, and Vlad. Maybe Joyner and a few more I’m forgetting but no way it should be an annual event if they retire their number to go along with it.
AHOF
is not a number retiring ceremony. Just your face on a stadium billboard.

so is anyone currently in the Angels HOF that doesn't have their number retired
When I was a kid I remember that behind homeplate somewhere they had game used bats and uniforms from the Angels HOF, but I can’t remember anyone other than those that have their number reitred.
So basically are Downing and Finley a departure from what the Angels have done in the past in terms of recognizing their best players?

Bring it back D.O.
If Moyer is still around and Smoltz has found a way to kick it with another team then you got another couple years Darren!

I'd like to see the Cuz come back
Hopefully provide more guidance to all our young(er) relievers.
The Big Red Machine V.2 is coming this Fall 2009. Go Halos!
I suspect the Angels would like to have Oliver
mentor Alexander Torres. Some of his numbers are fairly incredible. If he continues performing the way he has, one would think that he will eventually see our bullpen sometime next year.
I heard Moreno call his name once in an interview. I’ve been paying attention ever since.
Reckling and Browning are two other left handers that would benefit from hanging with Oliver for a while.
Shit, I'd play on too
’Cause Allen Stanford took all of his money.
I like Oliver
But I’d like him better in a more reduced role. We can’t keep hoping that this guy can carry two innings, let a lone starting off the cusp.
