You can go to google Books, and read all the Baseball Digest mags from 1940 to Oct. 2007.
Maybe princeton11loveshalos can study with these to become the next Bartlett Giamatti, and give the East Coast bias that thrives in baseball a lifetime ban.
I just sped through this site, and could only find two covers with Angels adorning them.

The media gets cut a lot of slack for east coast bias back then.
Today, in our Information Age, no friggin’ way.
But back then, only printed media could properly feed the information appetites that baseball fans have. And even the most current east coast printed media could be as much as 2 days behind news concerning west coast results. So it was entirely reasonable that they would leverage the information they had and target that information to the readership they served.
Hell, it was only a couple of decades ago that the bulk of the country got their national updates from around the league via electronic media on a weekly basis, by watching This Week In Baseball ("TWIB’) on Saturday mornings (provided they could steal the TV from their kids!) It was like a summary of Baseball Tonight.
We don't have a Bullpen. We have a Cowpen. Before we get to call it a Bullpen these guys gotta grow a pair.

Groove
That’s Groove on the cover. Man had a sweet swing. If Angels ever git rid of hatch as hiting coach, Baylor would make a great one.
