Be thankful we are not the Pirates
I had to travel to Pittsburgh this week and was able to catch Tuesday night's game against the Phils. PNC Park is a great stadium, weather was great, and I got to see the Pirates win in walk-off fashion
Actually the game started with a homerun on the first pitch (Phillies Jimmy Rollins) and end with a homerun on the last pitch (2-run shot by Pirates Andrew McCutchen).
I will let some of you researcher-types tell me how many times that has happened in MLB history before.
Back to my point about being thankful...
Everyone should be aware that the pirates have already traded 2/5ths of starting rotation, their entire starting outfield, and entire starting infield except catcher.
McCutchen was called up in June when Nate Mclouth was traded to Atlanta
So bottom of the first inning, McCutchen leads off with single and proceeds to steal 2nd. Let me tell you, this kid is fast. Utlimately, the Pirates stranded him at third.
But as I am sitting there, next to this kid, maybe 9 or 10, he looks up at me and says "so we are not gonna give him away, are we? My response? Not yet.
Sucks to be a Pirate fan.

I get the point but should I also be thankful we're not the A's or the
Giants or the Dodgers or the Yankees? I’d rather be thankful that we’re the Angels.
I got a fever and the only prescription is... more Kowbell!
That's sad

prospects?
Why? They will be gone just as soon as they get to the point they will cost money.

agreed they are just a glorified minor league team for the AL east. The bosox and yanks might be paying a high price in prospects, but they always get the prospects that pan out back. its a perpetual cycle.
And yes I’m glad we’re not the A’s, where angels and pretty much every player goes to end their career lol
In Kobe we trust!
The Pirates are ridiculous
I know its a smaller market but those guys arent even trying. Has to be especially annoying considering the success of the Steelers and Penguins.
Tell your statistics to shut up
Be thankful Donald Watkins didn't buy the Angels
Remember that guy who was trying to buy a major league team? I remember discussion on the message boards hoping and praying that Watkins wouldn’t get the Angels for fear he didn’t have the money and would have a fire sale.
Arte Moreno is the best thing that ever happened to the Angels, and things are only going to get better.

Amen to that
Watkins was smoke and mirrors, but he had no money.
Moreno is a fan’s dream.

On the positive side
All this talk about the Pirates has brought forth ads for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Suddenly I want a career in photography!!!
We don't have a Bullpen. We have a Cowpen. Before we get to call it a Bullpen these guys gotta grow a pair.
the Pirates had...
Jason Bay, Aramis Rameriz, Kenny Lofton, Jason Schmidt, Jon Lieber, Nate McLouth, Freddy Sanchez, John Grabow, Jose Guillen, Brian Giles, Xavier Nady. You dont think they could have held onto at least a few of these players. The Pirates management makes me sick.
They want power, We want respect...
