An Open Apology to Acuda
Acuda, mi amigo,
I have in the past, in game threads and other fanposts, particularly when we were trying to re-sign Mark Teixeira, made some perhaps snarky but well-intended remarks about your much-publicised mancrush on Kendry Morales. For this, I must now say I am profoundly, profoundly sorry.
In fact, one evening whilst drinking, I remember even making a comment with only the remotest sense of humour that perhaps you had a life-size blow-up doll of Kendry Morales in your bedroom. Again, for this, I must offer my most sincere apology.
I had very firm doubts that Kendry Morales could possibly be as good as you said he would be. I admit it now, I was wrong. You were right.
Your hero is now on pace for a season of 173 hits, 45 doubles, 37 home runs, and 111 runs batted in. A slugging pct. of .581 and an OPS of .931. These are numbers that Mark Teixeira would be proud of.
Add in the fact that Kendry Morales is a valuable switch-hitter, carries the load in the middle of the order, and is playing more than adequate defence at 1B only adds further credibilty to your rightness, and my wrongness.
I hope you accept this apology. And with the best warm wishes, I hope you keep the blow-up doll.
~Cheers, highlandhalo

Who is this Kendry Morales of whom you speak?
Does he play for the Red Sox or Yankees? I haven’t seen anything about him. Did you realize that Melky Cabrera hit for the cycle yesterday? Now there’s a guy the Angels should try to get.

I think I heard something about him...
It was related to Teixeira and new RedSox member Kotchman, but I’m not sure what it was all about.

I heard something on ESPN about Kendry Nogales...
About 37 minutes after the gripping Nats-Pirates headliner
Love me some Kowbell but we'll see how he does next year...
he certainly has put his name on the map and you know teams are gonna be studying those tapes this winter….

I doubt anyone...
…even Acuda thought he would be this good this soon. I think it’s safe to say he has exceeded everyone’s expectations at this point.
Not really......I seriously expect a Homer or a Double every game
Any thing short of that is a bit of a let down…..but then he hits 2 the next game and it’s all good.
Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the doubts were justified in the beginning of the year.
It is logical to think a rookie could not step up, or many experienced 1B, and fill Teixeira’s shoes. Morales has done a great job, and Soth has somehow removed the pressure from Kendry and allowed him to be comfortable as the everyday 1B. Having the support of Soth, Reagins, and Moreno behind you has to be a great boost to Kendry’s success.

I, too, must apologize to 'cuder...
for saying he’d offer his old lady to Kendry as a slump-buster. That was over the top.
Lo siento.

Te perdono!

goes both ways
I just about fell off my chair when I saw him starting against that lefty in Min.
Before that he was struggling against southpaws, now there is nothing he can’t do.
His minor league numbers were not that great, since he has almost always played in a great hitting environment. I thought he would be a bit better than projections, since he seemed to hang in there in some tough pinch hitting spots over the last couple of years, but I did not see this coming.
P.S. With Kendry playing all the time, Quilan is done. Sean the Baptist has taken his utility RH corner backup position too.
takes guts
to apologize. and im glad u could do that. we all make mistakes. a blow up doll of Kendry Morales would sell a lot with the ladies. MLB would make a lot of money.
that is the ugliest picture I have ever seen of anybody

I kinda like the thought of Acuda being an Angel...
But I had no idea he would have such an amazing impact on this team. Let me also say that Kendry is the MAN!!!!!
Let's win one for Nick
Gotta have more Kowbell
Before the year I thought he’d replace Garret Anderson’s 15-20 HR and 85 RBI. I thought that such production is not enough for a guy making 12 mil, but perfectly fine for a young guy making near the minimum.
I did not expect he’d make us forget Mark Teixiera so soon.
The HK-47 hitting droid is the finest line drive machine ever built
A note on Kendry's D
While he clearly doesn’t have the range of some of our previous Gold Glove calibre first basemen (Joyner, Snow, Kotchman, Teixeira) Kendry seems to make all the routine plays and some spectacular ones.
One thing that has impressed me is his ability to pick a throw out of the dirt. We’ve got some guys on the left side of the infield with rocket arms (Figgins, Aybar) who will throw the ball off their asses if they have to. If it’s in the dirt, Kendry always seems to pick it.
Another thing that has impressed me is his ability to start the double play. Kendry has a good arm and seems to know how to hit the SS in a position where the SS can make the return throw (usually to the pitcher covering, what with Kendry being a right-handed 1B). Case in point: The game-clinching double play over the weekend with Bulger covering the bag. Kendry hit Aybar right between the numbers with that throw. Otherwise, no DP.
Much love to Kendry!
