50 - 0 when leading after 8 ... cough it up CJ
Rangers just blew a 2-0 nothing lead in the 9th to lose to the A's.
A's held to 2 hits through 8, and then score 3 in the 9th.
3-2 final score ... and Nelson Cruz hurt himself on the walkoff hit to right by Rajai Davis ... officially a triple, but really a glorified double.
With Kinsler on the DL, White Lines Hamilton slumping, and now a possible injury to Nelson Cruz, it appears Angels luck has struck again.

I was watching it live on MLB.TV
man oh man what a loss for the Rangers. Nippert looked outstanding though for the Rangers so they can take solace in that ;)
that new kid they just called up must have some good stuff?
I didn’t see him pitch, but 4 k’s through the 2 innings he worked.
As for the game,
I actually turned it on right after Nomar struck out.
3 straight hits game over.
God bless the A’s announcers for putting up the 50-0 when leading after 8 graphic, impressive and also a big kiss of death.

Neftali Feliz
100 mph fastball. His “offspeed” pitch is a 90 mph change.
Worst of all, Boney M shows up and performs “Feliz Navidad” everytime he gets a K.

As an addendum
My first quick impression is that Feliz will be better than Felix Hernandez. I know, I know. It was only one appearance. But Feliz’ fastball is truly electric. The velocity and movement is exceptional.

That 'new kid' had two threads filled with men in self induced orgasmic pleasure over at LSB.
Reminds me a tad of KRod, when he first came up. Which was also against Oakland.
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
I dont know....
I still am not going to say anything until we have won the division outright. We have too many games left to think this division is over.
Beat the Red Sox, enough said
I already declared the Angels as champions at some point during Kendry's 2nd 3 run homer trot
the coast is clear

I still have some......
flashbacks of what happened to us in the 80’s and 90’s so I am always careful to proclaim the division ours before the day we clinch it.
Beat the Red Sox, enough said
The flashbacks of the chokes are all too clear.
In 1995 the Angels were a high scoring team (finished the season 2nd in the AL in runs scored) with shaky pitching.

100% agree
as of right now….
We Haven’t Won Shit..
Bottom Line,
Talk to me about October when the Angels clinch the right to be there.

WHWS is trojan's acronym for "we haven't won shit."
I love this team.

The Rangers game last night was an incredible heart breaker for the Mariners.
I think the Mariners had two on in the bottom of the ninth and the last batter was called out on a swinging strike that was clearly a foul tip. The batter and Zuridenik were tossed out for arguing with the umpire. Soth would have been out there tearing the bases out of the ground and throwing stuff around.
Hey la, hey, Halo...
Demoralizing Loss for Texas
it was 2-0 in the bottom of the 9th, they got the first batter out.
There were 2 on and 2 out and it was 2-1 and then the winning hit comes in. Nelson Cruz gets hurt fielding the ball.
Demoralizing. BUT the Angels must capitalize on these incidents, they must do the winning themselves. Games like tonight’s are just frosting on the cake that only Scioscia can bake. Wow that was a stupid metaphor, but it did rhyme!
I think Texas is in for a rough month
Clearly the Angels can’t continue scoring 10+ runs every day and winning at .750 clip for the rest of the season. But there is reason to believe the Rangers will have a tough time making up ground, even if the Angels win machine starts chugging a bit.
1. Texas has currently played 12 more games at home, where they’ve won 63% of the time, than they have on the road, where they’ve won only 47% of the time. But those away games have to be made up soon. They’re playing only 7 of their next 25 games at home, and those 7 are against the Twins and Red Sox.
2. The big difference in winning percentages isn’t pure noise, either. Their hitter’s park masks the fact that they have a lousy offense: just .237 / .293 / .416 on the road. For comparison, even the Royals have a team OBP of .309. The Rangers are a team of flyball hitters—a viable strategy in the Arlington bandbox, but not so effective in more reasonable ballparks. They’ve scored almost 50% of their runs on home run balls, but their ridiculous 14.2% HR/FB rate won’t hold up as they start playing more games on the road.
3. Their pitching is really fluky. They actually have the third worst FIP in the AL at 4.58 (worse even than the Angels), and yet their team ERA is somehow 4.18. They might continue to pitch above themselves the rest of the way, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
4. The biggest reason the Rangers are less than 5 games out of first is because of their unlikely 7-2 record against the Angels. Don’t expect them to repeat that feat in the remaining 10 games the two teams have against each other, especially since 7 of those games are in Anaheim.
5. They’re starting to get hit hard by injuries. It’s a long season, and Nolan Ryan has made clear his intention to murder young pitchers.
6. Before their loss tonight, their ELO playoff odds were 30% to the Angels 93.5%. Believe it or not, they’re really on the ropes, in spite of their current hot streak. A bad week this week knocks them out for good.
Time to get cocky? No. Unless the Angels pitching improves, they aren’t immune to the C-word, i.e. “collapse.” The Mets blew a 7-game lead on the Phillies in September 2007, most of it thanks to their unreliable pitching. A deadline deal for an arm or two would have been nice, but I still agree: the Angels can win with what they’ve got. Probably.

Good defense will produce good FIP/ERA splits
Andrus is a great shortstop, and a former shortstop is playing third base, both of which certainly help.

I was just looking up the # of home games vs road games myself
The next month, they play a LOT of road games. This will be the true test of the Rangers. And this also be the opportunity for the Angels to build a lead before September. Otherwise, it might be a dogfight right until the end.
