Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

A major ESPN Baseball Tonight analyst realizes the Angels' talent and puts it into a written document. PROOF THAT THE EAST COAST BIAS IS STARTING TO CHANGE (even just a little bit)!

I was JUST going to post this

Crap! haha

Yeah from Kruk no less, an East Coast ass kisser!

How bout that?

Its about time

But it was written(?) by John Kruk. He is a little more flexible, and honest, on his likes and dislikes compared to the rest of them zombies.

But come Thursday EaSsPeeiN will be getting their chubbies off of the greatest rivalry in all of history in the house that $1,300.00 seats pays off the loan that built it.

only one minor gripe

hate how they still throw in that unnecessary jab about the AL west being a “softer” division. we’re 14-17 against the west, and 17-9 against the east. wish that we’d get some recognition for that, but i guess… baby steps, right?

Clearly,

Kruk explains past lack of attention by the Angels’ lack of hitting:

“But as long as the Angels keep hitting this way, people will soon be forced to give them the attention they deserve.”

There may be some truth to that, although the more plausible explanation still seems to be plain dyed-in-the-wool NY/Boston bias.

"lesser-heralded players, like Juan Rivera,"

Juancho lesser-heralded??

Through the...

eyes blinders of ESPN, yes. It’s OK…hopefully we will continue to win with the less heralded, jsut like in 2002…Spezio, Fullmer, Kennedy, Gil, Eckstein, Molina, Washburn, Anderson, and on and on. All were ’less heralded" in ’02.

Yeah but

he still has the obligatory ass-kissing: “…although not quite as talented as the Red Sox and Yankees…”

It should read, “although not quite as popular.” We are undoubtedly as talented as the others. I like onedeterminedpanda’s point, if the West is so weak, why are we 17-9 against the East? Why is TX 16-12? And why are the Bosux 10-18 against the West?

This season is my best chance to get called out of the stands to pitch.

Wow.

Every time ESPN does a feature on the Halos, these posts inevitably pop up proclaiming how long overdue it is. Why does everyone care so much? Do we really daily articles by ESPN to be validated? I’ve read ESPN for years and even used to watch it once in a while. When the team does well, it gets coverage. Halos Heaven is where we come for all things Halos. The major networks need to focus on all 30 teams. Do the Skanks/Sux get more of that coverage than most? Absolutely. But get over it already. By making posts like this all we do is perpetuate the problem. In this day and age our resources for baseball coverage are almost endless. If you hate ESPN, stop reading/watching it.

I agree

And I have given up ESPN. Sportscenter and its ridiculous “human interest” stories are a joke, the sportscasters are total pricks (Tony Reali, Kornhusker, Skip Bayless, KENNY MAYNE, etc.), and the only things they cover anymore are Tiger Woods and the NFL.

I watch MLB channel and FOX Sports, visit FOX Sports’ website, and when I’m “in my office” I read Sporting News. Say what you want about the Sporting News, but you are guaranteed baseball coverage in every issue no matter the time of year.

We are the Los Angeles Angels of the late 2000s

Actually

I think there are 2 groups. 1 group talks about how overdue the article is, and the other group blasts the article for the perceived shot they think the writer takes at the Angels.

Any press is good press, and any good press is better press.

We're putting the band back togehter.

SO WHAT?

Me? I don’t really care what east coast sportswriters and Yankee-Red Sox homers think. It shouldn’t take a glamour team like the Lakers for the west coast to get some love, but I’ll take the warmth of the California sun and the beautiful bodies, err people that bathe in it anyday to the uppity urban jungle that is bos-wash and everything in between. especially those obnoxious philly phans.
