Not too long ago, there were plenty of people here who were kicking dirt on Guerrero's grave and measuring the DH slot for new drapes.
But the fact is now that Vlad is back, in some ways better than anytime in the past 12 months. His line for the month of August includes 9 HR, 17 RBI, a .337 average and an OPS of 1.014.
Suddenly, he isn't looking washed up, he's looking warmed up. Combined with Figgins and Abreu getting on base, and the conga line of Hunter, Rivera and Morales behind him to make sure he sees good pitches, Vlad is renewed.
So...maybe it might be a good investment to find a way to keep him around a few more years? Right now, it looks like there is still plenty of gas in that tank.
