9-9-9: Good Day for Rev Halofan

For hardcore folowers of this site, Wednesday will be a hard one for Rev Halofan to top. All of the following happened on the same day...

Sure the Angels won and that makes the Rev happy, but that was the frosting on the cake, go back to the beginning of the day...

In the morning, Sam Miller links to his auction on eBay for Jon Wilhite, spreading the word. Not only is there still dead silence from that "other" Angels blog about Rev's work with charity - despite claiming to be a free discussion zone - their Dicktator there removes the big weekend thread about Rev, almost 6000 viewers, the most popular subject there in the past month. Not only that, after claiming he is "so above citing numbers for his site" the Dicktator cites big numbers for his site, just like Rev claims i his auction video, using his cite to pat himself on the back in all his imagined greatness. In his self-celebration post, the Dicktator avoids citing unique visitors, Rev's litmus. Every potshot he tries to get in at Rev and Halos Heaven in his numbers game thread all he shows is how deeply Rev is in his head. Some one is playing chess and some one is playing checkers.

So all that is great, a great day, but wait, there is more, public enemy number 2, Mark Whicker, who has made the Rev the object of his hatred, basically comes as close to careeer suicide as possible. Forevermore Mark Whicker will be known as a columnist who belittled a rape victim. Rev has the privilege of being on the enemies list of a rape-joker. And meanwhile, that rival blog, always one to suck up to the press box, erases a thread about Mark Whicker's outrageous column. Whicker is no Conkrite, he has not lost asskisswin.com, the Dicktator wants to sit on Mark's lap int he press box now more than ever.

Rev got to sit back and watch one enemy destroy himself, one enemy be controlled by Rev's own agenda, Weaver get his 15th win and the bids on his auctions to help Jon Wilhite just keep bringing in more money. He didn't even have to use his A.K. today was a good day.

This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

nah, I actually forgot...

what the bet was. I just remembered it had something to do with 2-5. which is why I asked :)

went back and looked it up, that helped too. and if they go 2-5 vs. NYY, BOS, TEX, I presume that’s a push.

I was just wondering about it afterward, and decided in my mind I didn’t really know one way or the other. I happily will enjoy the 3+ wins on the roadie.

I don't know how angelswin.com is even used in the same sentence as this site.

Except maybe to say there is no comparison. Halosheaven is fun to use and just b.s. The other guys seam like they are trying to be professional writers but without the talent. And I think most sportswriters have little to no talent to begin with.

So just how lame is angelswin? Pretty damn lame to me. I never go there. Am I missing anything?

Or maybe I just like the Kool-Aid that Rev is servin’!

I’ve lurked at both sites for a while and I like this one best. I think its interesting that the guy at Angelswin posted their comment number of 600,000+ but 6 of their mods have 100,000 of those comments.

by Eliot Rosewater on Sep 10, 2009 10:03 AM PDT reply actions

I wasn't gonna post anything on this

but since I am a member at BOTH sites, I figure I need to respond to this now..

I am listed as the first fan of this site. I have been a member of his sites since WAY before the Rev started working with SBN.

We don’t worry about what you guys do here, so why are you guys all up in our business??

Someone from here followed Chuck last weekend and even sent him an email stating where Chuck parked for free when he went to the games in Seattle. WTF is going on?? Why is all this necessary??

I try and stay neutral, but you guys are making it VERY difficult to do, as you seem to take offense at anything the Angelswin people do – either they do it first, or you do it first, but someone here always makes a comment about what we’re doing there over here and gets offended. Geez, what happens here stays here pretty much unless you bring Angelswin into it, yet you keep bringing our stuff over here.

So let me make this simple: If you don’t like the site as much as you say you don’t like the site, then stay the FUCK away from Angelswin. post here to your heart’s content, and leave us alone.

by pattimelt on Sep 10, 2009 11:08 AM PDT up reply actions

I'm getting a bit tired of it, too--seems a bit excessive

That said, the Angelswin people aren’t saints, either—I read that thread last weekend, and have browsed the site fairly extensively, and the amount of self-righteousness being expounded over there is just as atrocious. I like HH because I found it first, and because there’s more a sense, as somebody else pointed out, it’s all in good fun. Sure, Rev’s more than a bit over the top sometimes, but he doesn’t seem to think he’s someone’s gift to Angels fandom, nor does anyone else here—and those who do seem to get roundly criticized or go hide back in their caves.

Good to “see” you again, though pattimelt!

RIP Nick Adenhart.

Addendum

Sentence ending “atrocious” should have read, continued, “if not more so.” I think people here are pretty amenable to new ideas from outside the community, and while I don’t doubt it’s similar over there, I just haven’t seen the evidence.

That's pretty bizarre about being followed.

How did he know it was someone from here? I’m not being argumentative, just curious what happened and who it could be.

Regardless of how anyone feels about each other, crap like that won’t be tolerated.

by WiHaloFan on Sep 10, 2009 12:02 PM PDT up reply actions

He knew

because the person emailed him and told him he was a member of this site. Actually insinuated that the Rev told him to follow Chuck, too..

Just saying.

by hauldog on Sep 10, 2009 1:09 PM PDT up reply actions

Really? I'm not questioning you or him...

Well…I guess I am. Who would follow someone, then email them that they had followed them, and then tell them that someone else wanted them followed? That doesn’t make any sense. What would be the point of that?

Nevermind. I forgot who we’re dealing with.

Have a nice day.

I know you are friends with the Chuck and I respect that. You know Rev…if you believe he ordered an HH’er to stalk Chuck then I guess that’s that.

However, in my short whatever years here on HH, I’ve heard the “I got emailed story” where Rev has done something to stalk/libel/slander him. Chuck has victimization issues, IMHO

One that I can recall off the top of my head happened on Ash Thompson’s blog. There was a negative post and Chuck spinned it into “Rev impersonated me and is trying to make me look bad and that’s not my post”

Another incident happened with that asshole who was going after me and my son….Chuck basically intimated it was Rev’s doing/responsibility/lack of whatever.

That involved my child-there will never be any trust EVER.

that would be nice...Life's too short for any of this to be happening.

I used to be involved pretty deep in ebay boards….you want to see some sick f*’s in action….wow-oh-wow.

We may banter with ‘the enemies’ on SBN, but the truth comes out with adversity and bad events. There is still a bond of brother/sisterhood with the cross posting of sympathies/support.

Different strokes for different folks

As someone who lives out of state, I can see how much good these fan sites are doing with the exposure they are getting on the Biggs radio program “The Drive.” Having two fan sites contributing guests to the show really boosts the image of the team.

The Register seems to have had an ego problem with the Angels ever since they changed their name.

Fans don’t like the way one message board operates or don’t feel comfortable there so they move to another one or set up a new one more to their liking. Nothing new about that.

The boards help each other. The MLB board finally woke up and smelled the coffee about a certain pest that made people want to leave, and finally dealt with the problem because of the presence of alternative message boards.

therefore it comes as no surprise to me the guy has attempted to tarnish not just one (theirs) but both sites.

Yes they did

I think he got overconfident and began posting with the smug satisfaction that he was going to continue doing whatever he wanted and nobody could do anything about it. Finally they got the guts to get rid of him. He tried to come back about a month later but his writing style gave him away. I’m sure many reported him, and I told them that he’s caused so many people to leave by clogging up threads, starting other threads to defend himself, and making himself the center of attention. Otherwise mild mannered people were losing their temper. I heard he’s still trying to come back, and one guy who got an unsolicited e-mail from him wondered if he was the guy he read about in the paper who was suing MLB for elder abuse. There’s no doubt in my mind that he gets his jollies by destroying forums. Hopefully it’s all over now, and I think he finally did himself in. The MLB forum is so enjoyable to use without him.

He was banned by the Angels board and went to the Dodgers board, or vice versa.

At one point he went on a letter-writing campaign to the Powers That Be at MLB, threatening all sorts of mayhem and whining that it was censorship. He plays both sides of the aisle, for and against the Angels (or Dodgers when he’s on their site) and starts political arguments in the baseball-only section of the forum, and plays both sides against each other.

Massive annoyance, massive asshole, just a trainwreck of a human, if he is that.

Pattimelt, with all due respect, what you are experiencing is neither novel, nor unique.

It is, however, inevitable.

We are in a new age of information sharing and distribution. Gone are the days of newspapers. Not gone are the days of media turf wars. In the old days, the wars between the city dailies were incredible. It was a contest for the hearts and minds of a common audience, and at stake was relevance and survival.

This is the same. If it was not so important, there would not be any reason for all the gloating on both sides. Nor any reason to lie and cheat to define status. What is different, however, is that folks such as you and I, who are participants in these sites, are NOT the sideline, passive, recipients of the content. We are contributors to the content. As such, we are participants in this test of wills.

We don't have a Bullpen. We have a Cowpen. Before we get to call it a Bullpen these guys gotta grow a pair.

Anyway, I was pissed off about Stoneman during the 2006 offseason—this was before the GMJ and Speier signings, which I thought weren’t horrible at the time—so cardinalwraith was razzing me continuously after I got somewhat jumped on…;-D
