okay, so we have seen the yankees/blue jays brawl and remember when beckett "did not intentionally try to hit" bobby abreu, but is player suspensions fair?
A batter gets hit intentionally by a ball as retaliation for something. He charges the mound (automatic suspension). The pitcher gets thrown out and so does the batter. The batter gets a 6 game suspension and so does the pitcher. Is that fair? The pitcher misses one start (maybe 3 games if reliever). Last time I checked a SP goes on the bump every 5th day, while a batter more often than not will play every day. Thus, it is really NOT a 6 game suspension for a pitcher. Hey MLB make it 14 days or even 30 days, make it fair.
O well, don't think it will change.
