Angels pics: Cool or lame?
Now you may have noticed that MLB.com have an army of photographers with digital cams at each and every game. Hence, while flipping through our roster and our stats, I noticed that each player's page comes up with an "action" photo". Flipping through these is kinda like flipping through a mini baseball card collection. So I've corralled them all on photobucket to flip through at your leisure.
The thing that bothers me, is with the wealth of awesome digital photography at MLB's disposal, why is the picture of Chone Figgins on the Angels official website so lame? It looks like he's striking out on a curveball in the dirt, rather than being the Desmond we love, running first to third, sliding into home, making a great stab at third base. My point here is that the photo editors at MLB could have done a much better job.
So I've collected all these pics onto photobucket, so as not to crash Rev's server. They can be viewed two ways:
1) Old school way (thumbnail gallery)
2) Or slick new school slideshow way
Either way, flick through the pics and let us know whether you think the MLB photogs or the photo desk editors have done their job well by voting by simply saying COOL or LAME in the comments below and say which pics you think are cool or lame and why .... Peace, highland

Lame, mostly
A few of the pictures are good (e.g., Arredondo), some are phenomenally bad (Torii), and the majority are meh. It’s as if someone merely took the first photo off the pile for each player. That’s lame in itself, but given the volume of work involved in putting together pages for every player on every team, it’s understandable.

That was what I was thinking myself ...
Most of the pictures are so-so. Don’t really capture the player’s essence. For example for Figgins, they should have one of him dropping the bat and sprinting out the batter’s box … for Santana, maybe him staring in looking over his glove for the sign with that flat cap brim …. Could have been so much better.
Don't call me Desmond!

The one of Mathis is really good.
The one of Palmer is good, only because there are so few pictures of him anywhere to be found. I have used that one in a win picture before. The rest are fairly stock type photos that don’t offer much more than an identifiable photo of the player.

Agreed, the Mathis pic is great.
I also liked Kazmir.
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.

Napoli's is cool
It looks like it’s his home run during last year’s ALDS against Boston

Hm.
Where’s Weaver? :(
And I like how Mathis’ picture is him fielding a ball, not hitting.
I think Guerrero’s is the best of the batting pictures, because of his # on the bottom of the bat.

Torii looks like he's got a big wad of something in his cheek, and Howie Kendrick's is just silly with his cheeks all puffed out.
Quinlan’s helmet hides his face, and I had to ask myself , Robert Mosebach?
THIS… IS… ANAHEIM!!

Lame...
I particularly didn’t care for the photos of Oliver, Quinlan, or Willits.

B. Wood looks confused in his picture.

where is Adenhart’s picture though?

I'm sure they've got plenty of pics of Nick
But probably thought it would be a be insensitive to post an action shot of a player who is actually no longer alive. In this case, MLB did the right thing.
