Kendry Morales Clears the Bases, Jered Weaver Cleans the Plate, Angels Win
9 run game (Angels Win 6-3 in 9 innings) on 9-9-09. Winning Pitcher was Jered Weaver (jersey number 36, 3+6=9)
Final Score in Anaheim: Los Angeles Angels 6, Seattle Mariners 3
After walking in a run in the first inning, Seattle pitcher Ian Snell found the strike zone when facing Kendry Morales. After K-Mo's At-Bat, the Angels were still the only team in the majors without a grand slam in the 2009 season, but the score was 4-0 nonetheless. Morales had cleared the bases with a double to the LF gap and the Angels never looked back.
Jered Weaver looked playoff ready as he put away hitters, pitching into the 7th inning on 111 pitches. Darren Oliver and Kevin Jepsen shut it down in the 7th and 8th innings. Juan Rivera bought a big time insurance policy when he smashed a 2-Run homer off of the rockpile (a fountain, not a construction zone) beyond Anaheim Stadium's Centerfield fence. Brian Fuentes got his 40th Save of the season after Trevor Bell allowed two hits to start the 9th. Fuentes let one score, but all in all a good recovery after blowing last night's affair.
Angels Starting Pitchers have a 1.59 ERA since the acquisition of Scott Kazmir and Weaver's 2 ER, both on semi-harmless solo homers, were 2 of 7 hits allowed and were balanced with 8 strikeouts and no walks. Weaver is now 15-5 on the season. Funetes' 40th Save ties him with Troy PErcival's 2002 total and Francisco Rodriguez' 2007 total for 6th Place All Time in Angels single season marks. Fuentes is already 9th All time in Angels Saves in only 47+ innings pitched.

It’s crap like this upon which astrology is born…
We don't have a Bullpen. We have a Cowpen. Before we get to call it a Bullpen these guys gotta grow a pair.
you are just jealous
because STIRRUPS has 8 letters.
(and you just proved you know nothing about astrology but you did hit the nail on the head about numerology)
When I speak my profile handle, I can roll my "r's".
So I can make my name anything gretaer than 7 that I choose.
(And I do know some things about astrology AND numerology. Both pseudo-sciences wrap hokum around coincidence. I just chose to write ‘astrology’ specifically to goad you!)

I voted Kendry
Weave pitched a great game, but Kendry took a lot of pressure off of everyone, especially Weave, with that 1st inning drive.

This is tough.
These two are the panthers of the season. We would be wrestling for third place with Oakland if we didn’t have Morales’ bat or Weaver’s strength and consistency.
Rex Hudler For President
that might be a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiit of a stretch....
but yes, these guys have both pulled a considerable amount of weight this year…panthers indeed.

Weaver has'nt been all that consistent really if you look at his last ten games for example.
Hey la, hey, Halo...
Nope
but in 4 out of his last 5 starts he’s been flat-out awesome.

I did'nt mean to imply he is'nt good, the guy has mad skills
and he seems to have a cooler head and better composure this year as well.
Hey la, hey, Halo...
Nice apostrophe usage LOL

I looked it up since I was curious
It looks like the Braves also don’t have a grand slam this year. So we’re not the only team in the majors
Wah?
I find it hard to believe that out of 5 different announcers, none of them cared to look this up. Unless the sites wrong, which I also find hard to believe

I'm pretty sure they've been saying
“Majors” as well. But…I’m not %100 on that

Well, you may be right.
It seems like Rex said Majors at least once. But that’s Rex, I suppose.

Amusing that the two teams in the AL with only one GS...
Are the Red Sox and Yankees.
Also interesting those are the two teams leading the Majors in solo home runs.
Unrelated, but the Angels have the best BA, most hits (also most doubles), and most runs scored when batting with two outs and RISP. Also tied for most HR and most SB in that situation. I’d say this is a good indicator of the Angels success this year – every out and every baserunner counts.
Let's do this for Nick Adenhart, Courtney Stewart, and Henry Pearson.
Let's play pick-a-panther shall we?
This is an overwhelming co-panther award. By the way, this rotation is definitely the best in recent memory.
Let the Halo power flow...

Weaver went 6.1 innings 2ER. Morales was 1 for 4 with a key double
Neither performance was overwhelming. CO Panther?
Play Wood already. Willits sucks.
