Happy Birthday Erick Aybar
Okay, so Erick Aybar turned 26 this past Thursday, but it is the thought that counts...
Here is the audio clip you have all been waiting for:
People dismissed Aybar as an all glove, light hitting, baserunning gaffe-prone replacement level Dominican, but what if this half-formed baseball player is actually a budding superstar? To paraphrase the Emperor from the above same movie, (in fact from the same scene as that audio quote above) "As you can see, my young apprentice, other infielders have failed. Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!"
Meanwhile, my dog Aybar, who like his namesake is also a Capricorn, the canine Aybar will still not fetch.

I vote Eckstein because character counts for so much in my eyes...
But I love when Aybar is at his best out there on the field, it’s a joy to watch.
Rest in peace, Rory. When I think of some of the greatest moments my Angels fandom, I hear your voice describing them. Thanks for everything you gave us.
short white guy with limited talent = good character!
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.

Family guy who gave all his money to his mother and did charity events at my college in his spare time = good character!
The scrappy underdog thing was fun, but isn’t what I mean by character.

I vote Aybar because of many memorable moments
good and bad
Angels 2009 WS Champs
I like all three a lot
Including OC’s great sense of humor, but Eck helped take us to the promised land.
Tough one...
I loved Ecks, but…well, why do YOU think I chose this screen name? :)
"I thought you said we didn't have any high-priced talent."
"Well, I forgot about Dorn because he's just high-priced."
Absolutely nothing here against Cabrera,
…but i didn’t think we gained much by letting Eckstein walk away. In fact, I think we lost a bit of “heart and soul”.
We can’t re-play the past, but it might have been better to have kept Eckstein through to the time Aybar was ready. This would have neatly coincided with the 3 years he spent in St. Loius, and the start of his declining ofensive stats.
(The odd think about that year is we signed Boston’s SS, Boston signed St. Louis’ SS, and St. Louis signed our SS. Strange days indeed.)
Yeah, I noticed that too... It was a triangle trade.
