Anyone care Kotchman may become a Mariner?
Poor guy, I kind of feel bad for him. Trade to Atlanta for Teixera. Trade to Boston for LaRoche. And now being traded to Seattle.

The Mariners will have the best defensive infield in the league...
…if it goes through. But outside of Lopez, little power to speak of from the same infield.
But it's a weird acquisition otherwise.
Mike Carp was at the top of their depth chart for that position — another slow-footed lefty with middling power. I wonder who’ll get the lion’s share of ABs? The 23 yr old, or the 27 yr old?
ps...hit the ball to Lopez at 2b cuz he is the only defensive hole in that infield...

pss...though I expect he will get traded before this winter is over...

For Adam Kennedy
Thereby making the transition to an all-Halos infield 3/4 complete.

By the way,................
Good for Casey!…………A starting job for a good organization.
It’s almost getting to the point that you can’t dislike the Mariners………….You just go out and play baseball with your friends, and beat ’em.

My thoughts exactly
At least he’ll be getting a starting job somewhere. This still leaves Seattle without much power and less money to acquire some with if they really do have to send cash to Boston in the deal.
I guess thank you, Boston?

Indeed it was, my fingers are still sore from typing it
But the fact that this move means Seattle’s middle-lineup will be something like: Guitierrez, 40 year old Griffey, Bradley and Kotchman made it more bearable to type.

I'm just happy that there's one more player I like
that won’t be wearing a Boston Red Sox cap next year.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Geez, he's a travelling man.
Who would have seen this just 18 months ago? I was hoping he’d end up in the NL somewhere, I didn’t see the Sox keeping him. I guess we get to see Casey 19 times a year now…

Surprised the Giants didn't jump at him
They need a 1st basemen and to get younger. Oh well, he’ll probably do well in Seattle.
RIP Nick Adenhart
As a fan of his...
i hope he thrives and finds a place to stay for a while. i just hope its not against the halos of course. good luck CK, i still wear your jersey to the home games !
IT COULD HAPPEN

Good Luck CK,.........
miss you superman.
Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. - Peter Gibbons

No ill will toward Casey...
…he’s a really good defense, not great offense, slow running player. I never saw anything from Casey that would make me dislike him or cheer against his efforts (unlike say…John Lackey?). He also had an bizaar run of bad luck (mono, hit in the head sliding back into 2B, food poisoning).
Too bad he doesn’t have the skills/speed to be a middle IF. He’d be far more valuable at 2B or SS (although that would be a real trick for a leftie).
I wish him the best…until he plays against he Angels.
Now they can sign ...
Bengie Molina and Jarrod Washburn and get ALL THE EX ANGELS on their squad. Is Guillen free?
What a bunch of losers.
2010: The year of Angels World Domination
don't forget
erstad, kennedy, GA, vlad, colon, gregg, donnelly, and percival too
then they can be the 2004 angels, but with bradley instead of guillen :)
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the M's signed Robb Quinlan..
And Mo Vaughn.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
The Mariners want to be the Angels.
It is apparent.

Another great move for the M's
Cliff Lee might win every home game 1-0 in that ballpark with that defense behind him.
You mean once every 5-10 days when he actually pitches at home?
Not a big deal to me.

yep, you are right
but I also forgot about King Felix as well and the fact that they also play a lot of games in Anaheim and Oakland which are also big parks.
Seattle has the potential to be really good this year if they stay healthy.
Reportedly Bill Hall is going to the BoSox in the deal
Sure hope he plays like 2007 – 2009 Bill Hall, and not 2006 Bill Hall.
Mariners were well stacked with shitty hitters in 2009
They had TWELVE players with at least 100 plate appearances and an OPS under .700
In comparison, the Angels had just three such players.
Cool thing about this trade...
Another ex-Angel now plays for the Los Angeles Angels of SoDo Seattle…
I actually have a couple players I can root for when I go to an M’s game now…woohoo! ;)
Safeco was built for LH hitters…maybe Kotch will finally thrive here…???
