Vlad Wins AL Comeback POY Award
Apparently, the MLBPA thought the same as the Angels FO during the last offseason.

I guess there are 2 different Comeback POY awards then?
I know that Liriano and Hudson won one a few weeks ago, but I think that one was voted on by writers.
It'd be cool if vlad apologized to the angels FO for being a fatass who didn't take his job seriously in 2009
through a translator of course.
whatever, I’m not bitter.
hooray for vlad.
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.

Not to mention how much better Vlad looked in a Rangers lineup where you had good hitters
up and down the roster. Congrats to Vlad for having something to prove and delivering on it even though it was for another team.
Peter Bourjos is faster than anyone on your team.
Vlad had
Torii and Morales hitting around him last season. not that big of a difference between Hamilton and Cruz if you ask me.

Remember
He was still our best hitter during the 2009 postseason run. Angels management just gave up on him.
Plus, I think he was demanding a 2-year deal from us.
I know that this sentiment isn't popular,
But this is exactly how I feel. I grew tired of Vlad not being in shape, and his half-assed rehabs, and unless i’m mistaken(which I may be) he wanted to play RF still despite his lack of mobility, with a multi-year deal. So yeah, maybe I am bitter, but it’s really hard for me to be overly joyed for his CPOY.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
I actually think the sentiment is *very* popular.
I think it’s bullshit, personally.
Vlad spent 66 days on the disabled list in 2009 — he tore a pec, strained a hammy, and tweaked his knee. Of course his numbers were going to be down on the season.
The idea that a torn pectoral is due to willful laziness and his fucked-up knees are due to a lack of conditioning is absurd retrospective witchhunting. Vlad was in a contract year — there were zero assumptions for him of an extension. He didn’t willfully sabotage himself.
It was the only bad year in his five year contract for us. To get one bad half-season from a five year contract is remarkably lucky. Vlad delivered for us on many occasions.
He came back healthy in 2010 and delivered more or less the year he gave us in 2008. Why is that surprising, given he was in good health after a shitty year?
I just find it weird that people would rather pimp front office managers and tear down one of the Angels’ great players than just put it down to what it was: a decision that didn’t pay off like we hoped it would.

mixed feelings
I still love Vlad but it’s tough to see this all happen with a rival. Feels like he could be 4 wins from entering the HOF with a blue hat :(
I'm ok with it
after all, I’d rather him play for the Rangers than the Yanks or BoSox. could you imagine him being the DH for the Yanks and winning a WS title? that would be awful.
although that first game back in Angel Stadium where he hit the GS really bummed me out…but I’ve moved past it. for now.

This news will give Dono Romantico a legitimate reason to run up and down his street
naked and yelling about how great Vlad is.
Peter Bourjos is faster than anyone on your team.
I don't know why.
Except for 2009, this (2010) was the worst year of his professional career. Setting aside 2009 as an anomaly because it was compounded by injury, he is still tailing downward from his 2006 season.
Dono may have spent the past year lamenting the loss of Vlad, model year 2004, but the rest of us had been lamenting the loss of that guy for years and had long since come to our senses.

and really
if you put Player B in a real park and not Arlington, he probably would’ve duplicated his 2009 season.
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34

Vlad on the road
2009: .317/.363/.515
2010: .284/.336/.461
Arlington did indeed help elevate his overall stats. Vlad’s road numbers declined in 2010.

And most of those impressive road stats in 2009 were from Texas...
…and Toronto.
Arlington: 440/.500/.640
Rogers Center: 407/.429/.556
It was the one reason I feared the Angels not re-signing Vlad last offseason — because I figured his destination was Arlington, and I knew that his stats there weren’t simply a fluke. He just fits that park.
There are parks for certain players — I think Hunter fits Anaheim well, for example, and his stats have shown that. Vlad suits Arlington well — give the Rangers credit for understanding that.
if vlad wins a WS with Texas does he go in Hall of Fame as a Ranger?

Nah
5 Playoff trips in Angels uniform (most of his career)
4 All-Star Games in Angels uniform (tied with Expos)
4 Silver Slugger Awards in Angels uniform (most of his career)
1 MVP Award in Angels uniform (only one in his career)
He became a star in Montreal and that franchise still couldn’t thrive. He came to the Angels and was part of dynasty that spanned most of the last decade.

the only way I could see it happening
would be if Vladdy went apeshit in the WS and almost single-handedly won the WS for them. and that ain’t gonna happen.
although, if he puts in another 3 or 4 years and the Rangers keep winning the West and stay successful in the PS, anything could happen.
